I am selling my 1979 Spectra 19 foot speed boat. This incredible boat came with a Ford 460 originally, but 70 MPH wasnt fast enough for the original owner. He went to Gale Banks Engineering and had them design and install a high end 454 with Twin Turbos and Inter-cooled motor with aluminum heads and it is said to be pumping 900 Horse Power. It has the Dominator Jet Drive which is powerful and reliable. I am told it was driven about 90 MPH, although I can not verify the top speed today. It does have a foot throttle, which adds to the amazing thrill of stepping on it. Clean Oregon titles are included for both the boat and trailer.
This boat is a blast from the past. I get complements everywhere I take it. The vinyl interior appears to be original and is in very good condition. The shag carpet is stretched a bit and discolored, but it is such a great look. The boat only has 379 hours since new. The exterior is in very good condition and is original with a few minor blemishes, overall fantastic for the age. I am happy to do a video chat to cover every square inch of the boat for you.
It rides on the original 1978 Foto-Grafix Tandem trailer. It has new tires, it likely needs the bearings repacked with Grease. Although it works great today, it has been a while since it was redone. It also comes with a boat cover.
It sat for several years, so I replaced the gas with non ethanol gas. I replaced the 3 gas filters also. It does have two 17 gallon gas tanks, with on / off switches. I put in a new battery. I put in racing motor oil and swapped the 2 oil filters and changed the spark plugs.

Uploaded a YouTube video of the boat on the river at
https://youtu.be/UyglWKumkbE
I have also included a video of the motor running at the dock so you can see it / hear it close up at https://youtube.com/watch?v=G5T3h1UvaDk
Please note, the boat has been titled as a 1979 boat for 40 years in Washington and when I titled in Oregon, they listed it as a 1978. I am confident it is a 1979 and will be working with them to correct it. That said, understand it might turn out to be a 1978. I will call the Oregon Marine Board to confirm the year Monday, please reach out if you have any questions on it, I will not be able to edit this ad once the auction starts as I understand it.
Please reach out if you have any questions. I am happy to provide as much information as possible. I would suggest having it checked out by a professional. Although I have no reason to believe any of the details given in this ad are not accurate, I am not a professional and dont know a lot about this type of a boat. The original owner passed away a few years ago. I got all of the details from his brother and his daughter and have communicated them as I understand them. Money was no object with the owner as you can probably tell if you know the Gale Banks legend and capabilities.
I have had this running on the river this past week and it is scary fast. The temperature gauge is not working, so I cannot verify that the impeller / water pump is in good working order. It seems to be getting hot, but that is just my impression and may be wrong. It runs great from my perspective, but might need the timing adjusted and other work completed to run at peak performance. It sat unused for 5-6 years, prior to the passing of the owner, but was working well then. It does need a new starter, it just clicks about 30% of the time. There are no guarantees stated or implied on this boat, I would encourage you to have a professional check it out before running it hard on the water
