The hull is in good shape, the boat does need to be restored, but structurally, it is very solid. The bow handle that is pictured is included. It is an original FeatherCraft nose handle, like what was originally on the Firefly. It was missing when I purchased this boat and I was able to secure one to replace it with. There are a few dings and dents, but nothing significant. One of the splash rails has a slight crush in it, but is not cracked and the rails are mounted on the outside of the hull, so it would not affect water infiltration. There is a slight leak where the keel meets the flat bottom hull, this too is a simple repair by just re-bucking the rivets or using a product to seal the leaks. There are several products on the market that are made specifically for this and are easy to use and are virtually invisible once applied.

Description:

This is an extremely rare FeatherCraft Firefly, a racing hull that was made in 1950. There are not very many around and are referred to in the FeatherCraft community as a "Holy Grail" boat. The last one to be listed and/or sell on classifieds board was over a year and a half ago. That boat was missing the bulkhead and one of the castings. If you are not familiar with the FeatherCraft boats, you can research feathercraft.net for more information. They are quickly growing in interest as more people discover these special crafts and are known for their high level of engineering, fit and finish. Very structurally sound boats that were designed by aircraft engineers following the end of WWII. The Firefly was a race specific hull design that was built to take the abuse of race conditions, maintain it's light hull (130#'s) and minimize drag. The planning surface changes from the traditional rivets to flush rivets to minimize drag at high speed. The boat is rated for a 16hp outboard and will really move with a small outboard.
