Antique Speed Boat 1972 Dolphin Caprice 17ft

This boat has a cool history, it was featured on the coverof Popular Mechanics in the March of 1972 issue! And yes, I have an original copyof the magazine to go with the sale of the boat! This boat is a 1972, 17ft DolphinCaprice with a fiberglass hull.

My Dad bought this boat when he was 21 years old in Chicago,Illinois. He was the youngest licensed Captainin the state of Illinois at the time. Thisboat has ONLY ever been in freshwater half a dozen time! When he moved to Florida and began his careeras a Sea Captain this boat went in to storage, where it remained for 35+ years. The boat was recently removed from indoor storagewhen my Dad passed away.

He went on to spend 40 years of his life as a Sea Captain, operatingall types and sizes of marine vessels, but this boat was special to him!! Maybebecause it was the first boat he purchased!! I hope to find someone who will findjoy and treasure it as much as he did! This boat was NOT mass produced! But atthe time it was THE fastest speedboat made! Unfortunately, the motor is notlonger with the boat for reasons unknown.

Unfortunately, I do not know much else about the boat. The pictureswere taken in March 2023 and reflect the current condition of the boat. The boat is located in outdoor storage inSarasota, Florida and viewing can be arranged. The trailer is road worthy to myknowledge. I do not have any additionalpictures. I have the title for the boatand the trailer.
