1970 Albin 25 Cruiser/Sailor-Onancock, VA-No ReserveCricket is a Coastguard documented Albin 25 built in Sweden in 1970 to demanding standards to tackle the North Sea. She is hull # 459. The same hull was used for both the sailing model and the power only model. This one has the optional sailing rig. There is a huge following for these seaworthy boats and if you do a Goggle search you will see several owners groups. I have included a lot of information here and many pictures in hopes of answering most of your questions. Please read the information and do your homework on these great boats. Please Note You are bidding on the BOAT ONLY. This is a no reserve auction, so if you bid please be prepared to buy. There is no engine in this boat. Read further about the optional engine and trailer pictured. They do not go with the boat unless you buy them for additional money in addition to your bid on the boat. The basic Albin 25Specifications:Boat Name:

The projects are relatively small compared to most boat restorations but they will require some work, nothing that cant be done by anyone with minimal boat skills. She has the mast, boom and standing rigging if you want it to use her as in the sailboat configuration. There are no sails. The boat is also equipped with dingy davits, a swim platform, double lifelines, stern and bow pulpits, searchlight, original push-button radio, compass, fresh water and sea water pumps at the galley sink, classic wooden cleats, windshield wipers, spotlight etc. The cushions are all there but at minimum the rear cabin ones will require replacing or recovering. The diesel cabin heater has been removed but retained for reinstallation if you choose. The sunroof will need to be recanvased or replaced with a hatch.Cricket has a lot of extra stuff not found on most Albin 25s. Her optional swim platform, dinghy davits, stanchions with lifelines and sailing rig alone are worth much more than the minimum bid not to mention the 90% complete hardtop.
Above is the basic boat stuff. Here is Crickets story and an explanation as to why I cant finish the project:I acquired the boat two years ago and began a restoration. Cricket was owned a long time by an elderly woman who eventually passed away. No one paid the slip fees and the marina finally had to obtain title and sell her. Full disclosure: they were asking $12,000 for her with no trailer and a dead engine but I was able to buy her for less. Her engine was frozen and I removed it. I also started a full refit by removing all the bad stuff and fabricating a new trawler hardtop for livability and sun protection. I was planning to fix her up and do some or all of the Great Loop. Many people do this epic trip which circles the eastern United States up the East Coast through the Erie Canal, down the Mississippi River, around the Gulf Coast and back up the Inland Waterway. With a trailerable boat like this you can do it in stages. Well that was my plan when a neighbor put up his Albin 27 for sale at a very good price.Long story short I bought the other boat and am now boat poor and need to sell Cricket. I started the loop last spring, up to and through the Erie Canal and left the Albin 27 up there to finish the loop in the year(s) to come. So now I have two Albins and a backyard full of Cricket so reluctantly she needs to go, hopefully to someone who will finish her and enjoy her for many years to come. The boat is in Onancock, Virginia sold as is and it is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange transportation. I will consider a delivery within 200 miles for a fee. A $500 deposit must be made within 48 hours and full payment made within three days. You are bidding on the Boat only. The trailer and motor pictured are available for purchase if you choose to.
Here are the particulars for the two other items sold separately or together:Engine: The engine is a Yanmar 2GM20F fresh water cooled two cylinder diesel with less than 100 hours on it which was taken out of a 27 foot sailboat. It comes with the control panel, shifter, shop manual, operation manual, installation manual, wooden cradle and an additional electrical cable extension. It also comes with a full sized wooden template for installation including a second set of new motor mounts. This engine is as pictured; with original factory paint (not repainted or touched up). As you can see it is like new and all hookups and fittings are labeled for easy installation. It is the appropriate size to drive this boat at hull speed and use less than a half-gallon of fuel an hour. The price of the engine is $3,000 firm.Trailer: The trailer is a LaodRite 5-Star aluminum I-beam two axle model with four-wheel disk brakes. It has a gross weight of 7,500# and a load capacity of 6,000#. It was purchased in October of 2013 to pick up the boat. The boat was on the hard so it was dry loaded and the trailer has never been in the water. It has traveled about 300 miles for one roundtrip, so it is essentially new. The price for the trailer is $3,000 firm.I have a lot more invested in both of these items but I am offering them at a reduced price if they go with the boat.Good luck if you bid and thanks for looking!
