Barco Maxum src 3000 1997The Maxum 3000 SCR is a generic family express whose sportystyling and affordable price offered entry-level boaters a lot ofboat for the money. Like all Maxum boats of her era, the 3000 SCRwas built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and inte-grated transom. Her midcabin floorplan is arranged in the conven-tional manner with a convertible U-shaped lounge aft and a doubleberth in the forward stateroom. Both cabins have foldaway accor-dion privacy doorsa definite improvement over the privacy cur-tains so often found in other midcabin designs. By offsetting theforward berth, Maxum designers created a very open interior in theSCR, larger in fact than the actual dimensions might suggest. Stor-age is plentiful, and three overhead hatches and six opening portsprovide excellent lighting and ventilation. A gas-assist hatch in thecockpit sole provides good access to the engine compartment. Ad-ditional features include a walk-through windshield, wet bar, anda foredeck sun pad.
