1957 Chris Craft 17 Runabout** Low starting Price. Priced To Sell. Will let Demand and interest set the final value** No ReserveI have owned this boat since 2014. Unfortunately Military relocation is forcing me to sell. It is hard to put a value on a boat like this. Hagarty values this boat at $26,000 in its current condition (see attached photo). This is an opportunity to own a true classic. This is a much sought after runabout model. They are significantly more collectible than the open cockpit sportsman version. The boat was fully restored in 2009 by Lowell Boats of NC (a well known wooden boat restorer). Over $10,000 was spent in the restoration of the wood itself. I have the receipts and description of the project. Restoration included:- Surface prep, strip finish, repair cracks and scratches, Saint and fair, bleach blond areas, stain with correct Chris Craft stain colors, varnish 8-10 coats, caulk deck seams, reapply lettering and stripe the waterline.- Bottom was painted and sealed. This is no longer a soaker bottom as it has been sealed with the West 5200 paint system. This is a must for a trailered boat that you only plan to put in the water as needed. Additionally, the original Chris Craft drivetrain was replaced with a GM Marine 4.3L V6 and a Borg /Warner (same as a velvet drive) transmission was professionally installed by Southport Marine in NC. The Engine, transmission, and professional installation was done at a cost of $4500. Receipts will also be provided. This was done to improve the boat HP and to significantly improve reliability and maintenance part availability. Since its restoration the boat has only been operated in fresh water and inside stored. A fresh coat of varnish was last applied a few years ago. I just pulled the boat out of storage for this season and to prep for sale. I did a minor tune-up of ignition components (Distributer Cap, Points, Condenser, coil, etc), new battery, and put in fresh gas. The boat fired right up with good oil pressure. I was unable to run it up to temperature as the raw water pump (pump that draws the water from under the hull into the engine cooling) decided to seize. I have a new pump on its way and will provide the new pump with the boat. I may get it installed time permitting (its two bolts and two hose clamps). Other than that, the boat is near perfect in all ways. Let the pictures speak for themselves. Most were just taken a week ago. The engine bay is clean as a whistle. Steel Trailer (with trailer title is included). I will provide a folder of all the receipts from the restoration, pictures, etc. Additionally, i will include what fenders, lines, life jackets, anchor, etc that i have.Boat Features:4.3L GM Marine V6Borg Warner TransmissionFerina GaguesElectronic Digital depth gaugeNote: The boat is titled as a 1956. It was built in July of 1956. Chris Craft considers this a 1957 model if you want to do some research on it. It is Hull number D17-2002. Boat is located in Chesapeake, VA and is available for viewing. With that said, it is stored dry inside in a 25 storage garage. No water source is available at the storage location so it can not be run without transporting it back to my house. Disclaimer: This boat is represented to the best of my abilities. Boat is sold as is where is. A $1000 deposit via pay pal is required within 48 hours. Remainder via certified / bank check or cash within 2 weeks. Pick-up is requested within 2 weeks. I can continue to store the boat past 2 weeks (provided full payment is received) at a cost of $150 per month or any portion of a month past the 2 week mark. This is what i am paying for the current storage unit.
