1928 Chris Craft Triple Cockpit Boat
BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED 28 FOOT WOOD BOAT. TRIPLE COCKPIT INTERIOR FINISHED IN GREEN LEATHER. POWERED BY A RELIABLE SMALL BLOCK CHEVROLET V8. ELEGANT AND TIMELESS DESIGN OF THE CHRIS CRAFT MAKES THEM FABULOUS INVESTMENTS. CUSTOM BUILT TRAILER INCLUDED.
We are pleased to offer this beautiful 1928 Chris Smith & Sons Triple Cockpit, 26-foot Runabout. This was the companys first true production boat, one that cemented the legend into enthusiast worldwide and made the Chris Craft a house hold name. The boat you see here is Hull #557. Her name is Sinbad, and she is one of those original Chris Crafts that set the high mark for craftsmanship, speed and styling! Sinbad was part of the same large private collection for over 25 years! The boat was professionally cared for and saw use every summer. When not in use, she was boathouse kept all summer and her winters where spent in a climate controlled garage. The previous owner had the original hull refastened and refinished in conventional coatings. The hull was not finished in a modern epoxy but rather kept original and is considered a live hull. Still showing fresh and in wonderful condition, the boat also features Green Vinyl seat cushions and black linoleum floors. The chrome plated finishes that adorn the boat are also in wonderful shape. Storage compartments are under the seats and allow easy access to dock lines and life vest. The triple cockpit layout provides seating for 9 passengers. The boat is powered by a later Chris Craft 350ci V8 and Paragon Transmission. The repower allows the boat to be used more comfortably, and with far less maintenance and much better reliability than the original 4cly. Now capable of reaching speeds in the upper 40s, this classic will give most modern runabouts a good run! The engine is easily maintained, as they use Chevrolet small blocks and parts that are widely available. The trailer was custom built for this boat and features diamond plate steps, full fenders, trailer brakes, bearing buddys, winch, and new tires. A very well cared for boat, Sinbad is ready for her next owner to enjoy. The engine was recently serviced as was the trailer. It is a live hull, so presoaking the boat before each season is required. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!
