This is an EXCEPTIONAL 2005 Checkmate ZT260 powered by an efi 496 HO (415 HP) with only 262 scanned hours. I am the second owner and purchased the boat with 192 original hours in upstate NY. This boat is priced to sell and is an exceptional value!
CONVINCED HER has been maintained with an open checkbook and has had regular service performed at Bay Performance Inc. in North East, MD. This is a turnkey 70 mph (GPS) boat with a step hull and plenty of power and has always been a fresh water boat as the original owner boated on Lake George in NY. Compare Checkmate to every other brand of boat in this size, Baja, Donzi, Scarab, Powerquest, Sonic and you'll find this boat is lighter, with a much thicker hull design and the power coming from this single 496 HO gets this boat up on plane quicker. Get her to 4500 RPM's, trim the tabs and adjust the lower unit up and hold on. She'll hit 5200 RPM's without touching the throttle, saving fuel and shooting a nice rooster tail while she's stepped up in her hull.
You will not find a cleaner boat on the market for the year and model and the boat has plenty of power above some of the popular high performance boats in her class due to her light weight design and step hull. I've owned them all and this Checkmate handles the water better than any 24'-28' boat I've owned (Baja, Powerquest, Sonic and Pantera). Boat does not "porpoise" in rough water and Checkmate is still in the business of designing a fast, yet affordable boat.
At the beginning of 2017 I added charcoal marine deck carpeting and had the rear deck hatch and rear seat reupholstered ($2100) to give the boat a cleaner look and removed the stitched designs. The bunk has never been slept in and has never stayed in the water more than 2-3 days. Original owner kept the boat on a lift and my boat stays in a high and dry marina in the summer and a temperature controlled garage in the winter. Boats gets fluids changed every season and a full detail at the end of each season.
Boat comes with a 2005 JHawk trailer with 4brand new tires. The boat has a lien so there will be a short title delay, however the boat is priced right for a quick sale. The only reason I'm selling is to go bigger, however I don't need to sell so please, no low ball offers. I'm not interested in trades because I'm purchasing a bigger boat. Boat is available for inspection, survey or sea trial at the Chesapeake Bay in North East, MD. This boat will NOT disappoint, just turn the key and hold on.
