Boston Whaler Rage 18

Up for auction is a 1996 Boston Whaler Rage 18, one of the rarest whalers produced! The boat measures 18ft and has the upgraded factory Ford 351 motor with an American Turbine jet drive.

The boat is in good overall condition with a few blemishes. The engine/jet drive were replaced in 2006 at a whaler dealer. Since then it has had very little use (only 30 hours!) and has been sitting in a garage. It comes with a custom canvas cover and Bimini top, both in great shape. It also comes with a ShoreLander trailer. This boat has all of the original cushions in great shape.

This boat is the perfect fit for those who love whalers, but want something a little more functional than the typical center counsel with an outboard motor. It has all of the great ski boat features like a sundeck, swim platform w/ ladder, seating for 7, and tons of storage! Yet it still has the unsinkable hull, with self-draining water channels the higher end whalers are known for. With a top speed of 42MPH this boat is more than enough power to pull double tubes or an adult water skier.

Mechanically this boat operates great and has no known issues. Cosmetically there are a few flaws including 2-3 chips in the gelcoat on the bottom, some peeling paint on the outdrive (not from hitting something), the normal spider cracks by some of the hardware and snaps for the cover, and a soft spot on theback floor panel above thegas tank.Iwas told that the soft spot can be fixed by removing theback floor panel (its just bolted down) and replacing theplywood sheet that reinforces it. I believe this task wont be very difficult as the panel is simply bolted down, not glassed in like the rest of the boat. I had the "tap test" performed on the exterior of the hull and everything sounded very solid. The trailer brakes and hydrolic lines are all in good shape, however my mechanic said the cylinder needs some work, so the surge brakes currently don't work. Lastly, there is a small (dime sized) hole in the passenger seat cushion.
