Wellcraft Scarab I

This is an extremely rare 1985 Wellcraft Scarab 1. The boat is crafted from Kevlar, both top and bottom sides shaving over 700 pounds off the weight from a standard Scarab. Some Scarabs were made with the top section in Kevlar, but only a handful were made like this boat. The boat is currently powered by a 1987 Mercruiser 350 Magnum with Alpha SS1 (Speedmaster) Gen 1 Outdrive. The SS1 Speedmaster is a shorter, tougher and more streamlined outdrive than a standard Alpha. The outdrive is designed for high performance applications. The boat comes on a 1989 Load Rite galvanized roller trailer. The trailer hashad the wheel bearings and tires replacedwith 0 miles on them (only moved around yard). The good: The boat is in very good condition considering its age. The interior has been kept up over the years. It could use a good cleaning. The hull is in very good shape. The outdrive is in very good condition. The bad: The boat has been sitting for approximately 10 years. It was inadvertently stored without winterization about 7 years ago after starting and running it with the intention of using it, however it was not used and was left without winterization over the winter. The exhaust manifolds are cracked on both sides and leak significantly. The engine turns over and should run, but I have not looked into whether the block itself is cracked. If you are interested in the boat, assume the block is cracked and then you won't be disappointed if you find it is. I consider thereserve pricefair, as the SS1 outdrive alone is valued at $1500 and the trailer is in very good condition.
