1979 Wellcraft Scarab 30
Hull Upgrade:Deck bonded to hull; new transom with modern X-dimension; new stringers; gas tank removed, covered with fine cloth and epoxy; lifting ring fabricated rom 316 L SS angle; Imron and clearcoat hull; custom one-piece aluminum engine hatchcover. During boating season, boat kept on a lift, out of water, and engines flushed and hull and drives washed after each use. When out of season, boat stored in concrete warehouse. Hull and bottom in excellent condition.
Mechanical:Rewired; Aeroquip stainless gas lines; hydraulic steering and K-planes have high pressure Aeroquip lines and 316 SS fittings; Char-Lyn steering helm;Mercruiser PS pump; exterior cylinders with 3/4 rams; SS rod end bearings; Mercruiser K-planes w/ 316 L SS transom plates; Fluxgate electronic compass with remote sender (because of Char-Lyn helm)
TRS Drives:Rebuilt upper and lower housings. In addition, I have TRS spares: new, complete upper gear case; (2) new gear case housings; gaskets; small parts; allTRS tools and manuals; Bravo 1 propellers.
Transmissions:Borg-Warner performance transmissions, with large coolers
Engines:Built from new Mark IV LS-6 base engines (described in Chevrolet PowerBook); compression lowered to 9:1; heads replaced with Merlin Oval Port;Inconel exhaust; Comp Cams stainless roller rockers; new Isky springs; ported bowl and short side radius work on exhaust; Comp Cams roller camshafts; custom chrome moly push rods; Eddie Marine Performance exhaust with stainless pipes and mufflers; Edelbrock air gap manifolds, hard coat anodized; Holley 3310carburetors; Malory/ Pertronix distributors; MSD #6 modules
Canvas covers:Bimini top; whole boat (mooring)cover; cockpit cover

I reupholstered the interior with red sail cloth. The cockpit was done with the same Naugahyde it had when it was new. The front seats were for a Scarab Nova, and I purchased them new at the Wellcraft booth at the Dania Marine Flea Market.I have been the sole owner and user since 1985, and have taken meticulous care of it.I replaced the engines. My engines were blue-printed Chevrolet LS-6 motors, with World Products cylinder heads; Competition Cams roller camshafts; and Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifolds, which were hard-coat anodized.The LS-6 designation now is used for a small block motor; when I built mine, LS-6 was a performance motor, best described in the Chevrolet Power Manual.I rebuilt the TRS drives, and replaced the transmissions with new Borg Warner 72C high performance units, with large coolers.It has been put on a boatlift, the engines thoroughly flushed, after every use. During hurricane season, the boat stays in my warehouse, where I service it. The boat has been continuously registered since we purchased it in 1985.The hour meter shows 62 hours. However, it is a 40 year old boat, and there are more hours than that. The boat was last run on hose on yesterday. We took videos, and if I could figure out how to upload them, you would hear the strength of the engines.
