1981 Wellcraft Scarab II 30
Boat History: Manufactured by Wellcraft for surfacedrives, and rigged by Kaama Engineering in Costa Mesa, CA. Kaama Engineeringwas established by Betty Cook, who was a World and U.S. Champion Offshoreracer. The transom is thicker than thetransom used for outdrives, and is notched for stringer attachments. The boathas a perfectly straight keel, no hook. When surface drives came out, there wastalk that the hull had to be manufactured with a hook. This was never true. Thehatch covers are raised to accommodate the raised modern X-dimension.
The boat has beenused in fresh water, in Michigan and Connecticut. Hull has been inside, warehouse storage since 1988.
The photos show thework in progress. The engines, drives, steering, stainless steel exhaust, mufflers and MSD are now installed. There is little to be done to finish the boat, butbecause of health issues, I am selling the boat as is.
