WHAT OTHERS SAY
BOATING (April 02)Wellcraft 190 Excalibur Sport Mission: Making waterbikes obsolete. Features: With its Scarab-influenced deep-V hull, the 190 Excalibur Sport is quick out of the hole, skips across chop, and pulls lots of Gs through high-speed turns. A single helm seat, back-to-back reclining lounge, two aft jumpseats, and bow lounge seats six. The standard springline cleats are a rare find in this class. Expect speeds to 50 mph when powered by a 225-hp Volvo Penta.Kevin Farley
GO BOATING MAGAZINEDuring our inspection and testing of 2002 models, we came across a real gem: the all-new Wellcraft 190 Excalibur Sport. It offers everything you need in a sportboat and nothing you dont. In fact, its simple concept a smart, fun little boat is what makes it stand out from a growing population of complicated new hybrids that are part runabout/part deckboat/part family cruiser.
With seating for up to eight of your closest friends and family members, this boat has all the ingredients for an unforgettable summer: speed, agility and plenty of space to store your gear.
The Core DifferenceBy far, the most significant feature of the 190 Excalibur Sport is its VEC (Virtual Engineered Composites) hull.VEC technology was unveiled last year at Genmars new multimillion-dollar manufacturing facility in Little Falls, Minnesota. It is an entirely new way to manufacture fiberglass using a patented closed-mold system, which eliminates traditional wood stringers and floors a fiberglass floor is molded right into the hull of the boat offering the ultimate in structural integrity, uniformity and durability. The VEC process is also cleaner and more environmentally friendly than the conventional hand-laid fiberglass method. Each hull built using VEC fiberglass lamination technology produces 90 percent less styrene emissions than traditional open-mold laminationVisually, the VEC hull has a nice interior finish, which is apparent inside the deep recesses of lockers and storage areas aboard the 190 Excalibur Sport. There was no rough fiberglass to be found anywhere.
The hull comes with a limited lifetime warranty, a portion of which is even transferable to the second owner.
More Frills, All ThrillsIn addition to its innovative hull design and eye-catching graphics, the 190 Excalibur Sport has plenty of standard features that wont leave its owner wanting.
Wrap-around seating in the bow can accommodate two to three adults comfortably. Storage bins are concealed under the cushions. Moving aft, the curved, walk-through windshield which has stainless steel support braces and glass side wings offers protection from wind and spray.
The dash console houses a full set of instrumentation, including gauges for fuel, oil pressure, water temperature, trim and speed, as well as a tachometer and a voltmeter. Along with the instrumentation, youll also find an AM/FM stereo with CD player in the dash. The adjustable bucket helm seat puts the driver in complete control, with the help of the tilt wheel with power steering and the side-mount throttle level with trim switch.
Deep storage in the sole hides skis and other oversized gear, while cockpit side panels provide a convenient place for incidentals. Strategically placedgrab handles, courtesy lighting and skid-resistant surfaces add to passenger safety, while molded-in beverage holders help guard against spilled drinks.
The aft bench settee with a rotocast base has storage below and comes with a cushion that transforms it into a sunpad. At the stern is an integrated fiberglass swim platform with a boarding ladder and a stainless steel ski tow eye.
An alternate interior layout features port and starboard back-to-back fold-down lounge seating, and high-low aft jump seats. Wellcrafts Platinum Package includes stainless-steel handholds, a 25 quart carry-on cooler and snap-in carpet, as well as several other upgrades.
What Its All AboutThe 190 Excalibur Sport has a deeper V-hull shape than most runabouts. Engine options range from a 135 hp MercCruiser or Volvo Penta 3.0L gasoline stern drive, all the way up to a 225 hp single prop engine. Our test boat was outfitted with a 190 hp Volvo Penta 4.3L GL SX, which could easily push this small, light craft.
It took only 3 seconds for the boat to get up on plane, and we are happy to report excellent visibility from the helm throughout acceleration. The boat was extremely easy to steer and carved some very nice turns, even at maximum speed (49.3 mph).
We determined the optimum cruising speed to be 37.2 mph, which gave us 4.3 mpg and a range of 124.7 nautical miles. After subjecting the boat to an hour of countless doughnuts, airborne launches and hard-over turns, we were on our way back to the marina. We cranked up the Clarion stereo and watched the sun melt into the horizon off the Gulf of Mexico.(Go Boating, October 2002)

Whether you are a repeat customer or a first-time buyer, heres a few tips and reminders about buying, shipping, and importing boats and yachts to Australia from the U.S.
Finding the right boat.Buying a boat from another country often means dealing with people that you never met or dealt with in the past. Theres tons of free classified ads and Craigs list-type re-advertisers on the internet with deals just too good to be true. If it sounds too good, then, youd guessed it, it probably is a scam.
Do your research. Be realistic. Partner up with a Pro (like us).
We suggest you deal with us. Each week we get shipping, export, and certification inquiries from some of the countrys well respected marine dealers. We work in close cooperation with country-wide brand name retailers such as Marinemax and with the brand stores of Regal, Chaparral, Monterey, Bayliner, Larson just to mention a few.
We are a fully licensed Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier by the Federal Maritime Commission and as such we operate our own in-house shipping company. We have exclusive contracts with some of the largest steamship companies in the world. As one of the rather few NVOCCs we have the authority to buy and resell space on ocean-going cargo ships and issue our own bills of lading. What does this mean for you? As an individual? Well, by contacting us irectly you are likely to save considerable time and money by dealing directly with the contract holder (as opposed to a string of middlemen).
Buying a boat directly from us or through our brokerage divisionBoats International, Inc. is our own in-house discount boat dealership. We buy bulk trade-ins from the big retailers but we also buy from banks and individuals as well. For the past 20+ years our focus have been to absorb distressed inventory and floor-plan boats from cash-strapped dealers and resell these locally and overseas. As we now are completing our store expansion project (September, 2011) we will be able to take on even more inventory then in the past and also have space over to showcase brokerage and consignment boats.
Most of our international buyers rely on our reputation and expertise as a key player on the U.S. domestic and international boat market and they seek our help to source the boat(s) that they seek. If we do not have what they seek in stock well be sure to find it through our network of dealers and banks for the right money.
Whether your buying a stock boat from us or one from another dealer we are well equipped to assist you with every step from inspection to final delivery of your boat or yacht to Australia. For example we can help you or your client with:
Finding a Boat or Yachtthat meets (or exceeds) your requirements in terms of condition, equipment, and of course price
Negotiate the Deal(including but not limited to title searches, accident reports, previous owner status, etc)
Survey & Physical Inspection(we have a longstanding partnership with a number of accredited marine surveyors, mechanics, and experts in most regions of the country)
Closing the Dealwe often act as intermediary for international buyers as most of our overseas clients prefer only to work with one turn-key partner
Pre-shipping Logisticsonce the deal is done and the boat paid for we assist in coordinating haul-outs, marina loadings, boat ramp pickups and inland U.S. land transport/trucking through our in-house logistics company Boatlogistic.com, Inc.

ISPM-15 No Worries Mate We Fumigate All Wooden Cradles & Provide Proof of FumigationInternational Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that directly addresses the need to treat wood materials of a thickness greater than 6mm, used to ship products between countries. Its main purpose is to prevent the international transport and spread of disease and insects that could negatively affect plants or ecosystems. ISPM 15 affects all wood packaging material (pallets, crates, dunnages, etc.) requiring that they be debarked and then heat treated or fumigated with methyl bromide and stamped or branded,[1] with a mark of compliance. This mark of compliance is colloquially known as the wheat stamp. Products exempt from the ISPM 15 are made from alternative material, like paper, plastic or wood panel products (i.e. OSB, hardboard, and plywood).Customs Broker Fees & Destination Charges in AustraliaTheres tons of websites out there claiming to be the know-it-all for import questions concerning boats & yachts to Australia. Fortunately, we are not one of them. While we can recommend quite a few competent companies in Australia it is ultimately up to you to pick a customs partner in your home port. As is true for all facets of our business we believe that there are no shortcuts to sustained success in business (or life for that matter). That said we recommend that you seek the advice of an Australian Customs Broker who is licensed by the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc CBFCA-Australia Website to inquire about recent legal and import changes pertaining to your planned import.
