Built as a 44 foot motor-yacht and launched in 1939 in Windsor, Canada. The builder, Skipper E.C. Breese was a founding father of, and was the 3rd Commodore of the Windsor Yacht Club that has become a well recognized social and yachting organization in Windsor.

The boat had a U.S. Navy Detroit Diesel Grey Marine 6-71 engine installed in it in 1945. This engine was the type installed in thousands of Greyhound buses and sounds just like them except for the altered wet exhaust sound. The marine version of this engine was used in many world war II era military boats. The boat was built on a White Oak frame and covered with Cypress planks. Most of the interior work is of Mahogany.

The boat includes the 8 foot dinghy built by the same builder in 1929.

Since its launch in 1939 Florabelle (named after the builders wife Flora) has had several owners and an interesting life story including a couple of other names. She was originally built for Elizabeth Arden (cosmetic founder,) she was the sister of Flora Breese.

She was upgraded to meet coast guard requirements in the early 2000s at a tremendous cost to one of the previous owners. In 2004 it was appraised at $60,000 and at that time it was estimated that to build the boat from scratch with the same materials would cost approximately $600,000.

The yacht is currently a resident of Moore Haven, Florida. She is sitting in fresh water just a few miles from Lake Okeechobee and about 45 miles from Ft Myers, on the Okeechobee Waterway, it is also known as the CaloosahatcheeRiver which crosses Florida from Ft Myers on the Gulf Coast to Port St Lucie on the Atlantic Coast.

General condition: Engine starts and runs well, transmission functions well. Most of electrical is functional, all is easy to access. Engine room is spacious. A real antique piece of work, you must see to appreciate the potential of this boat. The head -toilet probably needs to be replaced, otherwise plumbing all functions. From waterline up the hull has places that need attention, some of the fasteners are coming out and need to be replaced. The decks, roofs and gunnels need attention. She needs work for sure but most if not all of it can be done while afloat. Would make a wonderful live-aboard on a river or lake. Live on her and take your time bringing her back to her original sophistication.Purchaser must take possession and remove boat from its current mooring within 7 days of purchase, at time of final payment.
