I purchased this boat and trailer from my former boss in 2008. It had been sitting in his barn for 10+ years. It sat in my barn until 2010 when I decided to take it to a professional to have it checked out. When the boat got rave reviews from the mechanics and staff at Don Mar Marine, I decided to invest some $ in it. In 2010 I added the following: new long block, new stern drive and stainless prop, new wiring throughout, 100 amp alternator, new plastic fuel tanks(to replace the metal ones), new seats, new interior paint (exterior paint was fine), bilege pump, Pyle stereo, Eagle GPS/fish finder. Then I added new rims and tires, bearings, and wood runners to the trailer. All of the original lights and gauges still work. The original trim switch is still in place, but added a modern switch. Tried to keep everything as original as possible.
Used it for pleasure riding, tubing and skiing on the lakes and rivers in Central Alabama. Never seen salt water. It has been a great boat! It's an eye catcher. No matter where I am, everybody has to take a look. It is called the "Flipper" boat. Same boat dad used in the TV series Flipper(less the windshield for the cameras).Don Mar Marine performed all the normal service work(engine oil, foot oil, etc), including the "break-in" period on the engine. The engine has less than 250 hours on it. Cranks first time - every time. It is "solid" throughout. The only thing it needs is a good home and a set of new batteries(they still hold a good charge, but they are 4 years old). Now comes the divorce. Now my "toys" have to go. She got the gold mine and I got the shaft. I have over $15,000 invested in it - after I purchased it. I'll take $9,000.
