Up for auction is my beloved StarCraft boat.
I purchased this boat on classifieds boardabout 10 years ago from a gentleman in Wisconsin, who babied it like it was one of his children. Unfortunately he had become ill and could not handle the boat any longer, and the boat was not used for a couple of years, but it was stored in his large warehouse. I changed the spark plugs and fluids and it fired right up and I have never had any mechanical problem with the motor or lower unit to this day.
We have taken this boat on many vacations over the past years and even to southern Florida (Gulf side)and stayed two weeks on board at a nice dockage/resort. Of course the saltwater was cleaned out of the engine immediately after it was pulled out of the water for the ride home and winterized as well, as it has been every year since (Been in saltwater one time).
Two years ago I repainted the entire exterior of the boat with epoxy paint. The bottom was sandblasted to the bare metal (Aluminum) and epoxied as well. I added a solar panel about four years ago and added two additional batteries to run interior lights and electronics after dark with-out having to worry about firing up the engine every couple of hours to charge the other two mechanical batteries. It has a depth/fish finder and two off shore radios. I had a complete brand newcamping enclosure fabricated with "sunbrella" (See pics)two years ago and have used it once. It also has two biminicanopies that cover the entire interior of the boat (thecockpit area coveris a section of the new camping cover). It also has a mooring cover as well for dockage or storage.
The interior of the boat is all original and is in good to great shape for her age (Remember thisboat and interior is 31 years old). This is a great fishing machine and a nice cruising boat as well. It will sleep three comfortable but I added brackets around the motor box and made a bed there as well for another person.Of course I have had some sleep on the floor as well when we have a large crew for camping.
Cruising it gets great gas mileage and most summers I only fill it up one time and it lasts all summer (I hardly ever run it past 1/2 throttle unless I'm needing to get out of a storm or late for an appointment. Being an all aluminum craft it has less weight than other boats her size and less headaches as far as maintenance, not to mention gas mileage. As far as handling you will be amazed at how easily it will cut through rough water as well as cruise straight as an arrow on calm when the trim andtrimtabs are set properly.
I sandblasted and repainted the trailer three years ago. I treated it with a rust eliminator and painted it with enamel based paint. I accidently reduced the paint with the wrong type thinner and the paint spider webbed during the following year. Even though the areas where it cracked has not rusted due to the rust protectant I applied before I painted it. It looks worse than it is and still looks decent from a distant. All four trailer 10 ply tires are one year old and the bearings are in excellent shape as well. All the lights work, and I would not hesitate to pull it anywhere in the USA.
Unfortunately, the boat has not even been in the water this season as I have been consumed with a new job that has robbed me of taking time to go out and fish or camp. The boat fired up yesterday and ran perfect as it always has. I would not hesitate or think aboutnottaking this boat off shore on the lakes or ocean as it is that trustworthy. It has never used a drop of oil and all of the gas, if left over from the previous year, has been stabilized always.
The reason I am letting her go is that Ihave decided to get alarger boat for retirement, and would love someone to purchase this classic and enjoy her for a lot of years to come. By the way I always have turned heads out on the water and have had uncountable comments about how great she looks for 31 years old.
I want add another comment....please remember this boat is 31 years old and is by no means perfect or in perfect pristine condition. It is above average for a 31 year old boat and still has the same interior it did when it came out of the factory so there will be some flaws from wear and tear. On a scale from 1 to 10, ten being perfect, for a boat of this age I would place her at a strong 7 or 8.
This boat is for sale on other media and locally, and this auction will end as soon assomeone purchases the boat.
Thanks for looking and great luck on your bidding!!
