This boat, motor and trailer has been sitting (as you see it in the pictures) for about 15 years. It was in full excellent working condition when it was last used. It is being sold as is. It was the family boat of a Johnson Outboard Motor and Repair Business. We also sold and rigged Starcraft Boats and Gator Trailers. We have been out of business since 2000.

This boat is a nearly original 1963 21 foot Starcraft Chieftain Cabin Cruiser with convertible top and full original camper enclosure.

The large cabin features a wet sink, built-in cabinet with counter top, under-seat storage, cushion seats, porta-potty compartment (also included original pump head), ceiling lights daylight windows and hatch door to bow.

The deck features vintage gauges, steering wheel and chromed features, vintage depth sounder, latch door to the cabin, 2 vinyl cushioned pedestal seats, bench plank seat across back, canvas cover for the back area of the boat, OMC single-handle trim & tilt remote control, stationary boarding ladder, and trim tabs.

The hull is aluminum lapstroke construction. The windows are plexiglass.

Boat Condition: This boat is in need of some tender loving care as it has sat for several years while junk accumulated around it. It needs washed waxed and needs some small repair jobs. There is mildew on several surfaces. It is smoke-free. You will find a small scratch or ding but nothing worse than ordinary. There is a crack in the cabin front windshield (lower corner starboard side) that has been there for several years. Overall, this boat is exceptional for a 53 year old non-refurbished boat. It was stored inside for 51 years and spent 2 years outside covered with a tarp.

Outboard Motor: Specification sheet can be seen in the pictures. The 1984 Johnson 140hp trim and tilt VRO outboard, used in local in freshwater lakes, but has not been started and ran for several years. It ran with no problems prior to being stored. It was always serviced and winterized by a Johnson Certified Mechanic.

Trailer: Original Gator tandem trailer, 2 coupler, surge brakes, heavy duty trailer guides, spare tire and cover, and jack stand with wheel. The trailer was sand blasted and repainted professionally several years ago but does have new traces of rust. Tires were road-worthy when parked and still look okay and hold air.

History: We sold this boat new at our dealership in 1963. It originally had a 75hp Johnson motor, then was upgraded to a 100hp Johnson motor around 1968. The original owner used the boat for 2 weeks each year on the Ohio River. The rest of the time it sat in our warehouse. We repurchased the boat from the original owner and it became our family boat. We upgraded to the 1984 140 hp outboard and at that time we also replaced the steering mechanicals. It cruises great and pulls skiers with ease. I recall it runs around 35 mph with the 140hp. We boated in Indiana lakes only but for 2 years a family member used it in Michigan Lakes (freshwater only).

This would make a classic restoration project! It is lightweight for its length and is easy to tow. I have pulled it behind an Astro Minivan before. It is easy to launch and retrieve at the ramp. You can spend the day and night on the boat. It has plenty of room for gear. It is really a cool old boat!

This outfit has a clear Indiana title.

A $500.00 deposit thru Paypal is required within 24 hours after the auction ends.

The remainder should be paid with a cashiers check within 14 days after the auction ends and before pick-up.

Pick-up time will need to be scheduled.

Owner (boat & motor mechanic) will be present to help with any problems at that time.
