This boat is a classic built by Sonic USA in Ft Lauderdale Florida to compete with the other Offshore speedboat manufacturers of that time period such as the vessels used in the Miami Vice series. Sonic is not as well known as some of the other manufacturers but their boats are solid comfortable competitors.First...the port engine is inoperable. It is the original engine. Water got into the oil while running up the river and spun a bearing on the #2 piston. Don't know what other damage may have occurred inside. The engine turns over but has not been run since this occurred. The engine is partially torn down but will need to be rebuilt or replaced...the cause of the water intrusion has not been pinpointed. The starboard engine runs great. It is not the original engine, it was replaced sometime in the early 2000's by the previous owner. Both engines are normal rotation Mercruiser 454's rated at 465HP a piece. The outdrives are TRS counter rotating racing drives and I am not sure if they are original. I have had them both apart and they look new inside but the outside shows their time in salt water prior to my ownership. They are driven by velvet drive transmissions,There is an Onan FirstMate generator installed. It ran in 2012 but I never used it after that...I had planned to remove it but it is still in there and hooked up. It was quieter and more efficient to use a suitcase generator. It has a standard 30Amp shore power hookup.I purchased the vessel in 2012 and it has been run mainly on the upper James River in Richmond Va down to the Newport News area while in my possession. It was previously run mostly in the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River areas with the previous owner. Before that the vessel was in Florida. I am the 4th owner and have all the original manuals, brochure, and paperwork related to all the electronics, etc installed. Original owner was a VP at Sonic USA in Ft Lauderdale, Fl, then went to his daughter on his passing in 1991, then in 1996 to the individual I purchased her from in 2012.She is equipped with SiTex radar and chart plotter, two different GPS systems, VHF radio, depth gauge, two remote controlled 360deg airline style take down flood lights, hot water heater, AC/Heat, auto pilot (I broke the handle while cleaning dash), AM/FM/Cassette stereo, refrigerator, ice maker, microwave, 3000Watt power inverter, separate electric heater mounted under the starboard sofa. The hull was formed in 1986 and built into what you see here in 1987 for the premier of the 41SE model in 1988. This vessel is documented with the Coast Guard. The 41SE was only produced for the years 1988 and 1989. She was considered fast back then but is very heavy due to being designed as a liveaboard with all the liveaboard features installed. Dry weight is 12500lbs. She has two 100gal gas tanks, 30gal fresh water and 25gal black water tanks. I will say that due to the weight she handles fantastic in rough waters. Most of the equipment, electronics and appliances, etc are factory installed and are rather outdated by todays standards but they work. There is plenty of room for modernization if desired. The paint scheme is original and in very good condition considering it's 36 years old. It is hard to see in the pics but it was clearcoated which began peeling several years ago. I have been slowly peeling it off as it came loose. It is close to 70% removed. I have been trying to keep from damaging the paint because I hadn't decided if I wanted to keep the original look or completely design something new.The boat comes with a bimini top and a camper canvas. These items were mounted on the boat when I brought her home but I removed them. They have been stored in my garage ever since. I have never opened the camper canvas and have no idea of the condition. I have two new solid white engine cover cushions, two replacement stereo speakers that mount under the radar arch that are also in storage. The ropes, fenders, and anchor are included. The trailer was custom built in 1996 for this hull by the previous owner. It is aluminum I-beam rated at 18000lbs. It did not have a vin or title when I purchased it, just a bill of sale. I went through the process in Va with the DMV and State Police to have a vin plate assigned and installed. I installed a surge brake actuator system with disc brakes on two axles, a solenoid release that attaches to your reverse light wire to deactivate the brakes while backing up, wired the trailer for lights, had everything checked over by State Police and got a valid title and license plate. I put six new tires on last year. Five rims are aluminum, one is steel. The previous owner had a bearing fail and the tire and rim was lost on the road somewhere before I had the trailer. This boat and trailer is being sold as-is with no warrantees expressed or implied. All the information here is to the best of my knowledge. If I discover I have left anything out good or bad I will update the listing as needed.I pull this boat with a Chevy 3500 non-dually extended crew cab 4x4 pickup and it does fine. I hooked it to a Chevy 1500 4x4 Suburban once to move it in my yard and the front wheels barely touched the ground. The tongue weight is around 2000lbs and the whole unit (boat and trailer, not truck) is over 15000lbs depending on what supplies are in the boat.My truck and the boat/trailer together are 72ft long. This boat is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end this auction early if necessary. The buyer is responsible for pickup. I will do everything I can to make the pickup as smooth and easy as possible but delivery is not an option.Thank You for checking out my listing.
