Over the last the 3 years I've invested a great deal of time and money to get her to this point. Here's what I've done so far and the amount it has cost.Starting with the price of the boat and trailer. I purchased the project for $2,200 and the reason was because the elderly man I bought it from whas a fantastic boat restorer who had bought it and completely rebuilt the stringers and fiberglassed the floor. But because of knee surgery he was no longer able to finish the project and so that's how I ended up buying it. So I felt for $2,200 I was getting a nice galvanized trailer and in theory a used boat with all new bones. Plus Mr Vandiver was willing to give me all of the engine components and manual.Unfortunately most of the engine parts were to old to be of any value, also the engine and parts were for a right hand rotation. We used a few of the original parts for our base, the 351 Winsor block, pulleys, harmonic balancer and the heads were in good shape so we did lap the valves and just install the original heads. The engine is now a left hand rotation and here is what we've done so far! Bored the block 30 over and installed new Stainless Steel freeze plugs and all new bearings. Also new flat top pistons and stainless steel rings. New marine camshaft and crank. As well as new timing chain and cover. $1,500.00 New exhaust manifolds and risers with less then 15 hours of fresh water $900.00 Rebuilt transmission last year $800.00 New marine circullating water pump with Stainless Steel back plate $150.00 New Sherwood raw water pump less then 2 hours $350.00 Used fresh water cooling system from classifieds board however the heat exchanger looks brand new. $600.00 New Holley marine carburetor $600.00 New exhaust hoses and all new marine hose through it the engine. $200.00 Used gauges but all of them are installed and in working condition, tach, temp, petrol, oil pressure New marine battery $100.00 New automatic bilge pump. $100.00Now I know I'll never get out what I've put in, especially when it comes to all the labor that was involved. You can't even buy a complete PCM marine 351 engine for $3,300. Plus this one has a fresh water cooled system so no salt water has ever touched the motor. The 351 PCM engine is turn key and sounds really strong. The compression is ranging from 120-130 psi on all 8 cylindersWe've had the boat out a couple of times and the top speed so far was 36 mph.. With a new prop And the right pitch I'm sure it can go faster. What it needs, seats and the interior, and a new prop because the last time we took it out I ran too shallow and chipped it on a rock.Just in what I've spent out of pocket to buy this project and get her to this point is well over $7,000The reason I'm selling my project in the shortest answer possible, I need the cash more then I want the boat at this time. We are trying to move out of our mobile home into a house and we need some more materials to finish the job, Windows, drywall, paint etc.
