1984 Silverton 40 Aft Cabin Cruiser
This 1984 Silverton 40 Aft Cabin Cruiser is ready for a new owner. The donor of this vessel used her regularly and found her to be a solid and reliable vessel. They often lived aboard it for long weekends on Lake Michigan.
The two bedrooms and bathrooms makes this a great live aboard and the full galley (refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, toaster, etc) is also very nice. You will notice that it has a full set of utensils, kitchenware etc There is plenty of space in the cabin to watch TV on the Vizio flat screen that has been mounted. The donor actually had dish TV hooked up but that is no longer with the boat.
The boat has an Onan generator and twin crusader 350 motors with a total hours meter reading of 1700 hours. The donor stated to me that the motors have about 850 hours on each one of them. So with one hours meter I am not sure if that reads a cumulative number which would make sense based on what the donor has told me regarding the hours. The boat has been regularly maintained by the same guy over the past 5 years and this is what he told me this week. Last year one of the motors had some trouble and the donor bought a new carburetor which we replaced and the motor ran fine after that. I would drive the boat from the marina to winter storage, winterize the boat then when it was ready for launch I would de-winterize the boat and drive it over to the slip. The donor took it out a few times a year but mostly would use it as a live aboard during the weekends of the summer.
With that said according the donor and based on the mechanics own description of his involvement I have no reason to believe the boat not to be fully functioning. Mechanics mentioned that he put a new battery charger on board the boat recently as well. The boat mechanic is in the process of replacing 4 boat rail mounts on the bow of the boat and de-winterizing it so it can be launched. The boat has been cleaned up and de-cluttered of the previous owners personal belongings and she look great on the inside. She has a nice comfort-pedic mattress in the master bedroom. It comes with a couch, extra portable heaters, a standing light, and that Vizio TV. There are a bunch of manuals on the boat, extra tools and random parts that we have left on board. There is also an air conditioner in the main living room area.
The boat has a full set of canvas which appears to be solid with regards to its zippers and the canvas being intact but the plastic windows have taken a beating over this past winter and need to be repaired/replaced as you can see in the pictures. The bridge captains chair needs an arm rest repaired or replaced as well. The donor has also mentioned a soft spot on the bow which I verified and it appears to be about 2.5 feet south of the bow pulpit on the port side otherwise I did not personally come across any other soft spots.
The boats overall length is 43 feet with the bow pulpit and swim deck. The beam is just about 14 feet. The bottom could use a fresh coat of bottom paint but overall the hull appears solid. The swim deck has some fiberglass damage (possibly from bumping a dock) but it appears minor and repairable (solid to stand on etc). Boat is Coast Guard Documented and paperwork title transfer needs to be completed through them upon purchase.
