I am pretty certain this is the boat I owned in the early 1980's. It originally came with an Eska Motor and the previous owner had added the 105 Chrysler. He passed away and I bought it from him in 1983. I sold it to a dealer in Fox Lake Illinois in 1986/1987. With Sears going out of business I had told my son that Sears sold boats and that I used to own one. He was skeptical so I typed in 1965 Sears 170 runabout and this popped up. Brings back old memories.

Hello! A local gentleman just donated a 1975 Sears 170 boat to me as a project that (like most of us lol!) never touched the water lol! So my turn. Looking for some free advice if you don't mind? She of course needs TLC. But most importantly, an outboard motor w/matching throttle n cables. Million Dollar question: Can you advise what size HP I should put on her? I don't want too little power and not too much power either. what size should I put on her? And I am searching preowned and older, all I can afford. Thanks! BN Text is fine too if easier:
