LOOKING FOR A BEAUTIFUL WELL KNOWN WELL BUILT QUALITY CRUISER FOR THE FAMILY? LOOK NO FURTHER! I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU WILL FIND A NICER BOAT FOR THE MONEY ANYWHERE! ***PLEASE READ***THIS VESSEL HAS BEEN OWNED BY THE SAME OWNER FOR TEN YEARS. THE GENTLEMAN THAT OWNED THE BOAT SOLD HIS CONDO RECENTLY HERE IN WILMINGTON WHICH ALSO INCLUDED A WET SLIPHE HAD LISTED THE BOAT WITH A BROKER (NO CONTRACT) LATE LAST YEAR BUT JUST ABOUT OUT OF SEASON. PRICE WAS ON YACHT WORLD WAS @ $54,900 COMING INTO FALL OF 2015. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD NOT USED THE BOAT BUT ONE TIME LAST SPRING AND BEEN SITTING SINCE APPROX 8 MONTHS WITH NO USE. THE BOAT WAS SITTING AT THE SLIP WITH SHORE POWER HOOKED UP. I GOT INTO THE BOAT TO CHECK ALL SYSTEMS AND EVERYTHING WORKED! THE AIR CONDITION WAS RUNNING (COLD) AS WE HAD ABOUT 80 DEGREE TEMPS JUST BEFORE X-MAS. THERMOSTAT WAS SET @ 68 DEGREES AND KEPT IT THERE EASILY. WHEN I GOT INTO THE ENGINE ROOM THE GENERATOR LOOKED LIKE NEW (NO RUST.) I SWITCHED FROM SHORE POWER TO GENERATOR AND SHE POWERED EVERYTHING RIGHT UP WITH NO PROBLEM! THEN I CHECKED THE ENGINES. STARBOARD ENGINE TURN RIGHT OVER WITH NO PROBLEM. I DID A COMPRESSION TEST AND ALL 6 CYLINDERS HAD BETWEEN 180-185. WHICH IS ABOUT AS GOOD AS IT GETS. HE ALSO DID TELL ME BEFORE GOING TO SEE THE BOAT THAT HE THOUGHT THE PORT ENGINE NEEDED A STARTER. AFTER LOOKING IT OVER I BELIEVED THE STARTER WAS OK. I TOOK OUT ALL THE SPARK PLUGS AND HAD NOTICED 3 OF THE PLUGS ON ONE SIDE BANK HAD SOME RUST ON THEM. I TRIED TO GET IT TO TURN OVER WITH A RATCHET TO THE CRANK AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO MOVE. I SERIOUSLY BELIEVE IF THE MANIFOLDS WERE REMOVED AND SPRAYED DOWN WITH GOOD PENETRATING OIL INTO THE CYLINDERS VALVES ETC AND LET IT SIT A COUPLE DAYS SHE CAN BE FREED UP. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING FINE JUST LAST SPRING. ITS NOT LIKE IT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR YEARS. I'VE SEEN MANY MECHANICS DO THIS AND BE FINE. THE MECHANIC I USE AND KNOW VERY WELL WHO DOES MY INBOARD WORK WITH 20 YRS MERCRUISER EXPERIENCE CAME TO TAKE A LOOK. HE BELIEVED HE COULD GET THE ENGINE FREED UP AND REPLACE THE MANIFOLDS ETC BUT IT WOULD BE A FEW WEEKS BEFORE HE COULD GET TO IT AS HE IS DOING A COMPLETE DIESEL REPOWER AT THE MOMENT. THE OWNER WANTED TO VERIFY THAT IT WAS FROZE UP. HE THEN CALLED THE DEALER WHERE HE BOUGHT THE BOAT AND ALWAYS HAD IT SERVICED. THEY SENT A MECHANIC TO THE SLIP AND HE SAID IT WAS FROZE UP. THE MECHANIC TOLD HIM PROBABLY A SLIGHT LEAK FROM THE MANIFOLD GOT A LITTLE WATER INTO THE CYLINDERS ON THE SIDE BANK JUST AS I TOLD HIM. THE DEALER (HIGH END AND EXPENSIVE) HAD QUOTED HIM $7200 TO REPLACE THE PORT MOTOR WITH A NEW LONG BLOCK. THAT ALSO INCLUDED REPLACING MANIFOLDS, AND RISERS ON BOTH ENGINES.THIS IS WHY I LISTED A STEAL FOR THE RIGHT PERSON!ANYONE WITH MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE OR NO SOMEONE COULD TAKE THE MANIFOLDS OFF AND RISERS OFF ACID WASH THEM OUT PAINT AND RE USE WITH NEW GASKETS. OR YOU CAN BUY NEW SIERRA BRAND MANIFOLDS AND RISERS FOR ABOUT $1200 MAX FOR BOTH ENGINES. IF IT DOES NEED A LONG BLOCK A JASPER MARINE CRATE ENGINE WILL RUN ROUGHLY $1800-2000 WITH A 1 YR WARRANTY. YES THERE IS SOME LISTED REMAN V-6 LONG BLOCKS AS LOW AS $1200 I BELIEVE THE RIGHT PERSON CAN EASILY GET HER GOING FOR A FEW GRAND OR MUCH LESS! THEN YOU WOULD HAVE A 45K BOAT ALL DAY LONG!I HAD SOLD A 2007 BAYLINER WITH THE SAME ENGINE HERE ON classifieds board WITH THE SAME SITUATION ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THE GUY COULDN'T WAIT TO CALL ME A FEW WEEKS LATER TO TELL ME HE GOT THE ENGINE RUNNING PERFECT FOR ONLY $75 BUCKS.LOOK AT MY LAST FEW FEEDBACKS AND YOU WILL SEE IT. THE DRIVES TRIM UP AND DOWN SMOOTH WITH NO HICCUPS, THE GEAR OIL ON BOTH LOOKED GREAT WITH NO SIGNS OF ANY WATER. ANCHOR WINDLESS SMOOTH, ALL RAY MARINE ELECTRONICS, 5KW GENERATOR LOOKS NEW, AND RUNS SMOOTH AND QUIET.SPRING OF 2014 THE BOAT GOT ALL NEW TOP OF THE LINE SUNBRELLA CANVAS, ISENGLASS (A LITTLE HEAVIER GRADE) THAT IS CRYSTAL CLEAR, NEW ZIPPERS ETC.
