General:
We bought the boat in November of 2010 from a local/regional dealer, Erwin Marine. It was there on consignment and we were told it had come from Decatur, AL. We winterized it and kept it stored under a carport that first winter.
It was sold to us as a freshwater boat, and aside from 2 separate 10 day periods when we took it to the beach (after which, we brought it straight back and dunked/rinsed/ran it in freshwater again to flush everything out), we have used the boat only in freshwater. However, if you look at it in just the right light, you can see a shadow of an old boat name with a port of call in FL no idea if it was just where the owners hailed from or if the boat actually lived there, but I would guess it didnt stay there long as we have not had any salt-related issues with it.
Upgrades:
During that first winter, we had custom camper tops made for the main seating area ($2,500). These tops attach to the original Bimini and are mostly isinglass. Earlier this spring, we had a zipper fail and it has not yet been replaced (hard to part with the boat during prime boating season) it is the top port zipper on the back panel.
We also installed amps, speakers, subs, a new head unit and remote for the stereo, as well as a marine band radio and antenna. (+2,000)
In June of 2012, we installed 2 OceanLED underwater lights and also ran matching blue LED lights in the cockpit.
We had the gelcoat cleaned and sealed in the spring of 2013 and again in 2014.
Fiberglass:
When we parked the boat in the carport storage, we were between 2 large motorhomes, and one day during our weekly drive-by check, we noticed the Bimini was crooked one of the port supports had come loose and the screws had scratched the gelcoat before we had even made the first payment. We are still unsure if the neighboring motorhomes awning fell on it or how the damage happened, but luckily we were able to reattach the Bimini bracket and the top itself appeared fine. The gelcoat scratches have been cleaned and we considered having them repaired, but were afraid the patch would be worse and more noticeable than the scratches.
Also, upon cleaning the bottom of the boat shortly thereafter, we discovered a small patched area that we had overlooked during the initial inspection.
There is a chip and crack in the anchor locker, which was there when we bought it.
There is a chip at the nose of the boat that was also there when we bought it. It lines up perfectly with the trailer winch, so I assume the previous owner did not have it high enough on the trailer when they started winching.
And finally, my wife put a small nick in the bottom, starboard chine of the boat this July trying to pull the boat onto the trailer at an unfamiliar ramp.
Overall this has been a great boat and we have loved it. We would really like for it to go to someone who loves the water and SeaRays as much as we do.
