This is a very original Penn Yan that includes the original engine, trailer and all paperwork. She spent most of her life on the Susquehana River north of Harrisburg, PA and was always garaged kept. I bought her in 2011 and used her for two summers with no problem. She launches right off the trailer with virtually no leaks and after a day none. She is a very tight boat for her age. The engine runs like a watch and was last run in the fall of 2012 and has not been started since. The motor was fogged before storage. The boat has all the original equipment with her right down to the gold sparkled steering wheel. I stripped the hull in 2012 and sealed it with Smith CPES, primed and painted her hull.
What she needs: The decks need to be sanded and refinished because they are starting to look a little dull and some varnish is peeling. The rear deck has a couple of places where the edge of the plywood decking chipped off. This deck could easily be replaced or the chips could be filled and used as is. Other areas of the bright work such as the rub rails and fins on the back could used some staining and varnish. The bottom could also use a coat of paint to look fresh.
All in all the boat is a survivor that could easily be restored to new or touched up and used as is>I used her on Lake George NY for rides and to pull my young kids on a tube and had a blast. Good Luck

Questions
I am interested in a Magellan. Where is this boat now?
Is this boat still available for purchase?
Thanks,
John
I am working on restoring a 1959 penn yan magellan and was googling ideas for it. I came across this, and started flipping through the pictures and realized it's my boat! It's completely stripped down to the frames right now, just finished priming the hull, will be replacing the decks with teak and holly, and I rebuilt the engine, with a new coat of paint it looks brand new. I'd love to share some pictures with the original owner, and ask some questions if you wouldn't mind emailing me at *** or calling me ***, would love to know wen it got its name, etc. I'm keeping the sweet caroline! love it. Only major changes I'm making are brining it back to original condition and adding some benches in back to comfortably sit more people!
