Completely restored vintage Crosby runabout with period correct 1959 Mercury Mark 58A 45 HP Outboard. The original 1959 brochure for the boat describes it as Crosbys fast, easy handling hull provides all the thrills boating at its best has to offer. In our test runs, the boat and motor performed very well; with a nice smooth ride and well-balanced power.
The restoration was a retirement project for me and now this awesome little boat needs a new home. It is a great runabout and you will be the envy of everyone as you cruise the lake on a sunny summer afternoon or evening.
The boat has been completely restored and has a maintenance free fiberglass hull with all new Okume marine plywood decking installed with epoxy and stainless-steelscrews. Wood decking and trim pieces were finished with multiple coats of gloss spar urethane. All the wood parts were removed and the inside of the boat was stripped to the hull. After sanding and cleaning, hull interior was sealed and new marine carpet installed. All original mahogany structural wood pieces were removed and refinished. Plywood backing for the seats was replaced and sealed with solid color wood stain to prevent rotting and seats recovered with new foam cushion and marine vinyl.
All original hardware was reinstalled, steering cables replaced and the boat completely rewired with updated lights and new switches. Motor is a sweet running 45 HP Mercury with compression tests at 120psi on all 4 cylinders. Someone prior to me appears to have repainted it in its original factory colors which really gives it the classic vintage outboard look that matches the boat.
Boat trailer is in very good condition, has good tires and both boat and trailer have titles.
Additional pictures of the restoration can be provided. A notebook with copies of the original Crosby advertising and a Mercury motor manual with parts is included along with a new cover for the boat and all the safety equipment like fire extinguisher, paddle, and life jackets.
You need to see this boat in person to really appreciate the detail and quality of the restoration.
