The CaptainLawes Flagship of the Smith Island skiffs.

Built by legendaryboat builder Dickie White on the plans of Captain Lawson Tyler. Captain Tyler is credited with converting the Smith Island Crab skiffs from workboats to racing boats in 1919. His unique approach was to use stripped bottom planking which ran lengthwise from bow to stern rather the more common cross planking.

Capt. Laweshas a modified Kohler command 21 horsepower built by Zach Kerber Machine andDesign in McClelland, Iowa.
