26 foot US Navy Whaleboat for fun! These boats were built to withstand a great deal of abuse thus are very sturdy. In fact, this one was built to operate in icing conditions. It is fitted with cushioned bow and stern for that reason. It was built to carry sailors to shore when the ship was anchored in the harbor. Also used as a lifeboat.I think of it as a cool cruising boat somewhat like a pontoon boat but much cooler. It was designed to carry 19 passengers and one operator. Perfect for a day of cruising or a sunset wine cruise.A top speed of 8 knots with a diesel burn or only one gallon per hour. The Westerbke engine just keeps on ticking.I hate to sell it but she won't fit under the bridge on my waterway. The bridge used to be a drawbridge but is no longer in operation.
