Its time to move on for me, so I have decided to put my trawler up for sale. I purchased this boat almost 12 years ago and it has been my home until the last week of August.
This is a high quality trawler, extremely solid hull, precision woodwork. Tayana is very well known in the sailboat world and certainly respected. Tayana produced only a handful of these trawlers as a typhoon destroyed their molds early on and they did not repair or reproduce them.
Pictures talk by themselves. I have removed all my personal belongings so what you see is what you get.
Here are a few highlights of the boat:
Main information
Manufacturer: Tayana
Year: 1983
Origin: Taiwan
Model: Sundeck Trawler
LOA: 45
Beam: 144
Draft: 311
Propulsion: twin Ford Lehman 2715E
Genset: 5kw Northern Lights
Fresh water tank: 240 gal, s.s.
Holding tank: 50 gal, FRP
Total fuel cap: 500 gal, one keel, two saddle tanks
Hull and deck
Hull is very solid with no known issues like de-lamination or blisters. Last haul out was just over 2 years ago. Bottom painted and some thru-hull fittings and seacocks either serviced or replaced.
Originally the deck featured solid teak, but needed replacement, which was quite expensive, so I decided to remove the teak and apply non-skid. At that time two soft spots in the forward deck were repaired by replacing the core and re-glassing the deck. All deck is very solid right now.
All the deck hardware is high quality, with massive Samson posts fore and aft and Herreshof style cleats amidships.
Brightwork is old and needs attention. Teak is in good condition.
Nice swim platform with retractable access ladder.
High quality Saint Croix davits with stabilizing bar and 6:1 tackle to lift your dinghy of choice with ease.
Big Bimini in main deck with massive s.s. structure. Similar setup in FB.
Interior
Layout features salon, Pilothouse with chart table, two cabins forward, one full head forward of cabins, galley down, master cabin with en-suite head with separate shower stall.
Salon is very airy at deck level. Round table with seating for 6 adults. Separate seating area for two and shared side table. Perfect for watching TV or reading. Salon area is carpeted.
Pilothouse has steering station to port and chart table to starboard. Upholstery was re-done in leatherette just over a year ago. Teak and holly flooring with engine room access hatch.
Guest cabins are forward down. Port cabin has two bunk beds (over/under) with plenty of storage, locker, etc. Starboard cabin is twin size with lots of storage also. Individual doors to access PH/salon area. Individual doors to access forward head.
Forward head has a Raritan electric toilet. Also lots of storage here.
Galley is down, level with owners cabin. Formica countertops, Full range with 3 burners and working oven. Propane with safety solenoid. Vertical fridge/freezer, 120 VAC. Twin round s.s. sinks. Electric exhaust fan for ventilation.
Owners cabin is huge. Queen size bed, twin side tables, vanity, lockers, storage, storage, storage!!!! En-suite head with separate shower stall. Toilet is Tecma and runs with fresh water pump.
Propulsion
Engines are Ford Lehman diesels, naturally aspirated, in-line six cylinders. Hours are approx 3200 (which is a walk in the park for these engines). Transmissions are Borg-Warner with 2 shafts. Propellers are bronze four blade. Fuel rate at cruising is about 6 gal/h (for BOTH engines). This will give you a cruising speed of 8-9 knots depending on current conditions.
Engines start right up and burn no oil. Serviced within the last 5 hours with new impellers, oil, filters, etc. Port heat exchanger is newer. Alternators are less than 2 months old.
Generator
The generator is a Northern Lights 5 KW 120 VAC diesel. Runs excellent. 2892 hrs. Full remote panel in pilothouse.
Electrical
Boat features 12VDC and 120 VAC power.
Two AGM 8Ds totaling more than 600 amps of reserve capacity make the House bank. Two independent G24s for the engines (one for each engine) and an additional battery for the generator.
Charging is provided by a solid state Xantrex charger/inverter unit with 100A of charging capacity. Inverter side is 2500 watt.
Battery state is monitored from the PH area by a Link 1000 system.
Full array of circuit breakers in main distribution panel for protection and isolation.
2 x 30 amp inlets for shore power service. Main distribution panel with source selector (shore-genset). Shorepower cables and Y (to connect to a single 50A shore power post) are less than 1 year old.
2 Air conditioning units by Cruisair keep the boat dry and cool. with vents in cabins and salon. Regularly serviced and in good condition.
Electronics
Main navigation display is a Garmin 2010 with GSD21 sounder modue. Unit has two stations to operate the unit either from PH or FB. Interphase fishfinder/sounder in FB. Raymarine RL70C in FB and RL70 in PH. Autopilot is a Robertson with control head in PH and wired remote for FB. Standard Horizon Command Mic VHF with a smaller unit for backup in FB. PH has main Standard Horizon radio and another smaller unit as backup.
Entertainment
Clarion CMD4 stereo in PH with wired remote in FB. Aux input.
KVH TV4 Tracvision sat TV antenna.
Ground tackle
Lofrans 12VDC windlass, massive. deck switches and wired remote. One Bruce anchor 44 lbs with 70 of chain and 150 of 3/4 rode and one Simpson Lawrence CQR style fast set anchor with 30 of chain and 250 of 3/8 rode.
This boat is in sail-away condition. Yes, there are a few cosmetic issues and some cleanup to be done in the engine room, but overall in good shape. This is not a cheap coastal boat, this is a serious hardcore cruising vessel.
I just dont have the energy anymore to look after this boat. My interests have changed and I want to move this boat fast. Its priced accordingly.
Boat is obviously sold AS-IS, with no warranties implied or expressed.
You are welcome to inspect the boat and perform a survey. Boat is located at a boatyard on the Miami River with travel lift, so can be hauled-out right there at buyers expense.
Boat is documented with USCG to my name, free and clear. Ready to be transferred.
Payment can be made in cash (cash is King!!!) or cashier's check from a bank with a branch in Miami. I will go with buyer to cash the check at time of transfer. If you want to set up an escrow account you can do so at your expense.
E-mail or call me at your convenience if you have questions or to arrange a viewing. Gerry phone.
Thanks and good luck!
