This is a1967 StevensFlat bottom hull that was originally sold as a kit ie. a bare hull, according to a previous owner, When built it was equipped with a crated409/425 Chevrolet engine. I have owned this boat for over 30 years and it hasn't been in the water since 1986
The Hull
The hull is fiberglass with plywood reinforcing the deck and transom. It retains it's original gel coat finish but it is tired and chalky. Original finish was a metallic white and black stripes as seen in the picturesThe bottom is undamaged In 1987 I removed the deck and cut out the stringers and floor due to dry rot and discoloration. The floor was replaced with Mahogany plywood and the stringers with full length clear Douglas fir, All holes that were drilled through the stringers were oversized and backfilled with fiberglass chop. This did two things, It prevented water from getting to the wood and it stiffened the mounting points to prevent the stringers from being crushed when hardware was attached. The hull was then reassembled the stripes were repainted and the entire boat then clear coated with a purple pearl. She looked sharp. (See last 2 pictures)
Interior
The original seats were used as patterns and new plywood frames were built and resin'dover. The foam was replaced and new vinyl covers were made in white metallic with purple piping to match the hull. The plywood and covers are in excellent shape except for the very top panels on the seats.A very easy repair if you wanted to retain the original look.
The dash layout is original and includes RareStewart Warner Greenlinegauges. A mechanical(cable drive)tachometer, Apitoe tube actuatedspeedometer, electric oil pressure and amperes. The Steer gear isHallcraft.
Drivetrain
The Hardware includes only what is seen in the pictures and nothing more. The v drive is the largeHallcraftin & out box. This unit is now made byMenkinsand parts are available to the best of my knowledge. It was overhauled, removed from the boat during reconstructionand set on the shelf before the boat could go back in the water. The driveshaft and prop shaft, couplers, skeggs, and steering are there. Steering cables need to be replaced, Rudder was chromed but now is pitted, should clean up well enough. There is aHallcraftStainless steel actuated adjustable ride plate controlled by an adjustable and locking drag pedal with T handle. There is aHallcraftthrottle peddle but the Morse cable requires replacement. The old cable is provided as a sample for that purpose. There are two sets of stringer plates for the engine stands. One set runs parallel with the stringers while the second set is angleddownward toward the v drive. This setup worked with the oldEdelbrockmotor plates on the $09 (not included). The angle aluminum has not been slotted for motor placement but was drilled for placement of the 409 as a mockup pointThere are two props (1) 2 blade and (1) 3 blade. I do not know the pitch of either, Both will easily get the boat out of the water.
Trailer
The trailer is a two axle highway competition trailer with near new thread depth radial tires on steel wheels. it was completely rewired and new lamps were added and extra holes cut for extra tail lights, marker side lights and rear floodlights back in the day. Fenders were replaced and mounting extensions were added to provide step plates into the boat. Diamond plate was never added to finish the steps. The bunks were replaced as was the carpet but the visible carpet shows that it will need replacement. Simply done at the lake with a staple gun and out door carpeting.
Please, carefully, look over all the pictures. I am providing the means to examine themclose up. You may contact me to examine personally prior to auction ending. Note the last 3 pictures show the paint job when I first purchased the boat and to show what the original gel coat looked like with the stripe repainted black and a clear coat with the purple pearl applied back in the late 80"s.Itdoesn't reflect the current condition but rather shows you what can be achieved rather inexpensively .The boat is stored indoors in W Sacramento. Over all, this is a very solid boat that needs a couple of weekends to be put in the water as it is presented. Needs very little effort if it were to be rat rodded, painted or preserved. This is a no reserve auction. This boathas got to find a new home. I'm losing my storage andI realize that I have too many unfinished dreams and chronic pain will prevent me from ever enjoying boating again.
