Classic Stevens 47 Motor Yacht, Fully Equipped for Great Live-Aboard or Weekend Getaway

It's hard to imagine a better boat for a live-aboard or a weekend getaway. Sunshine," 47 feet (14m) long with 13-foot (4m) beam, is roomy, sleeps six+, has more than full headroom, and is solid and quiet. A real plus, the vessel comes fully equipped all you need are your clothes and other personal items and you can move right on. It offers more than 400 square feet of living space at a fraction of what even a tiny house would cost you. I've had my home and office aboard it for more than 4 years and it has served me well, and I've priced it well below the boat's book value for a quick sale.

This is a 1964 model built by Stephens in Stockton, Calif. It lived most of its life in the Bahamas and British Virgin Islands, and has been in Texas and Florida. It is docked now in Tarpon Springs, Fla. (in the Tampa Bay area) at, by far, the least expensive marina in this area. Dockage, which can be transferable to the new owner, is just $7/foot, and as an antique vessel state registration is just $5/year.

The marina where the boat is docked is in a lovely location on the Anclote River with easy access to shopping, restaurants, entertainment, beaches, and all the advantages of being in Tarpon Springs, which is a tourist destination.

Sunshine had major bottom work, including bottom painting and replacement of some planking, a little over a year ago. It has a mahogany hull with very little seepage. If you've ever spent time on a fiberglass boat, you'll appreciate how quiet this boat is. Additionally, all the main pumps and macerators were replaced at that time, new bilge pump switches put in, new batteries installed, and both the 120V and 12V electrical systems completely restored and inspected. It also was completely outfitted with new electronic and galley equipment at the same time.

The boat itself is in generally good overall condition, but it is a 54-year-old wooden vessel so there are some mainly cosmetic and minor repair items, primarily some topside wood repair work, that should be tended to.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON ENGINES: Sunshine has two PF 8V53N Detroit Diesel diesel engines. Unfortunately, both engines were damaged n a partial sinking at the end of 2016 that occurred due to the negligence of the party who was looking after the boat while I was out of the country. While the rest of the vessel subsequently was completely repaired, restored, and re-outfitted, I did not have the funds at that point to repair or replace the engines and, since I have primarily used the boat to live aboard, I left the engines as they were. The new owner would have at least four choices: To leave the engines as they are; to repair them; to replace them either with similar or different engines; to install a diesel-electric propulsion system; or to mount a bracket on the transom and install one or two outboard motors.

I want to make clear that the engines are not operative at present and the boat has been priced accordingly.
