Hull has a sticker that reads: "Plycraft Molded Boats - The Finest Afloay - Made In Canada - Mahone Bay - Nova Scotia" The Mahone Plycraft hulls were built using the hot-molded process that was developed during W.W.II to produce the fast, light fighter/bombers, most notably the "Mosquito Bomber". The hulls were built of birch or mahogany diagonally-laid 1/8" veneers over a solid maple molding tool.
The veneers were laid on the mold and stapled in place.Proprietary glue was brushed on and the next veneer layer applieduntil proscribed number of layers was reached. A heavy rubber sheet was fitted over the veneers and the air pumped out, applying even pressure over the entire hull surface. The mould was then "baked" to cure the glue. The hulls were built in two halves to be mated later in assembly and shipped by rail across Canada and the U.S.
Speedicraft" was the brain child of Otis C. Borum of Jacksonville, Florida. His vision was to use this very strong, very light hull to construct autility racer. One that was not only fast because of the light weight but also strong to stand up to the test of marathon racing. I was told by Otiss son that a "Speedicraft" smoked the field in a Miami to Key West Marathon in the 50's. What I do know is I had the fastest boat in the bay at St. Augustine, Fl in 1954 and it was a 12 ft. Speedicraft.
This is a "TWO OWNER BOAT"
Over all condition was fair to good. The hull was in great shape and was sanded covered with epoxy and painted on the outside with Jade Mist and Sara Tan Algrip. The transom, transom supports, spray rails, keel and rub rail plate were replaced. Decks were finished with Inerlux Red Mahogany Filler Stain and Interlux Schooner Varnish. Inside was rubbed down with Siskens Cetol Marine Oil. All hardware is 1950's including Quicksilver Steering Wheel. I have receipts for all work done on boat totaling $7,728.56.

Questions
Is the Speedicraft et al still available for sale(?) and is the price as apparently indicated...$2,500.00...THE price?
Thanks
Hi: Raced one of these in the 1960's starting as a teenager. Bought the hull from Mahone Bay Nova Scotia and finished with my Dad in the garage. Mine was 13ft. long but the had a 12 & 14' version also. Ran it with a 45 Merc. Top end was 48 mph when dried out. Could corner on a dime and beat many rigs running 20 mph faster. Would really love to see your boat in the flesh. In Myrtle Beach for the winter and could drive down.
Regards Bob
Where is this boat now? I'm very interested in owning it.
