Simulated Cobalt

Very Rare opportunity to own a boat that you will not see twice. If you are looking for that unique boat that everyone will be asking you about then this is the boat for you. This is a dual cockpit inboard V-drive powered by a Ford Motor Company V-8 with Edelbrock headers. Even the included trailer sports some vintage 1950's V8 hubcaps. Completely made of wood- the hull is a marine plywood with a thin fiberglass overlay, and the deck is all a beautiful Mahogany. Overall condition is very nice but it does need some TLC. The pictures really do not do it justice, it is very beautiful in person and I often find myself in my garage just staring at it imagining it in show condition with some fresh varnish and paint.Long story short- this was a "Barn find" or more accurately a "garage" find. I acquired this recently and had big plans to refinish the boat from top to bottom with my 6 year old son and drive up to the Lake Tahoe Wooden Boat festival this summer, but my son had a medical emergency and it has unfortunately put me in a position that I have to now sell it.

I bought this from the original owners sons- it has been in the garage of the father's home since built in 1959- He had passed away and they were selling the house and that is how I cam across thisThe title is 1959 year- says "SIMCOB" on title as manufacturer- and his sons thought it meant "simulated cobalt"- but from what I gather cobalt started in 1959 making boats. anyways- they believe this homemade maybe from a kit- and from what I researched online it is what is considered a california flat bottom racer- as the original inboard cowel cover was in the boat when I bought it- supposedly their dad took out the small 20-40 horse Evinrude and dropped in a ford V8 with hot rod components. they told me their dad did this with his friend but never let his boys in the boat once- they said because he was afraid with the speed potential. they said in 1998 his dad and friend overhauled the engine got it running again but then never put in water. so it has basically been sitting as a time capsule the better part of the last 1/2 century. Engine oil looks like it was changed yesterday and the air filter is clean and unused. It has all original parts including the brass prop, keel, and mounting hardware. Also an old anchor and rooster tail adapter and compass are included.
