She was run for a five year test and evaluation period while we vetted systems and design criteria for the new 64 foot x 27 foot wide production version to come.Although we kept the boat in top shape for our regular public appearances. There is expected 'normal' use and wear. We address this in our refurbishment offer.The boat up for auction was then retired and put in dry storage and not run nor tended to for five years. STERN DRIVE

Current stern drive installed has less than 25 hours use. It is a Mercury IV mounted on extension box, with Teague custom race mods, and race lower. However, it is at the upper limit of its currently installed engine horsepower rating. And in our experience, may not be very durable. Nor does it offer the widest propeller selection. Nor afford opportunity to install the two speed transmission we have determined to be the best set up for this unusually performing vessel.
So we are offering the lucky winning bidder an alternative, at his expense, should he so choose.
We will remove the Mercury Stern Drive and install an optional Arneson Surface Drive. And an accompanying two speed transmission. At the buyer's request. After years of research and testing. This is a highly recommended option. We have specified Arneson Surface Drives and two speed transmissions for all our production boats. see privatephantom .com.
The optional Arneson Surface Drive is NOT included in the winning bid price. As are all these other upgrades and maintenance items listed above. But will be installed by us at the buyer's request. At an additional after auction cost to the buyer of approximately $50,000. The recommended larger diameter propeller, which can be fitted to the Arneson, but not the Mercury. And the two speed transmission, are included in this price.
The larger propeller choices available for the Arneson, and its well known durability to handle the horsepower and torque from the supercharged V-10 make it the ideal choice over the currently installed Mercury drive. Which is not known for its longevity. Your choice. We will install. And perform all the necessary Carbon fiber and Kevlar modifications to the drive tail as may be required.
All total? Several hundred thousand dollars worth of work is included in your winning bid price. Once minimum bid is achieved. Plus the optional Arneson system, should you desire to have us install this at additional cost.
Due to exotic and experimental nature of many of the ship's systems. And the ultra exotic nature of the ship itself. Buyer assumes full responsibility for ongoing maintenance, repair, and safe operation of the vessel. We will continue to assist in any way we can to help you maintain your new boat to the high standards we have established. Vessel will be readied for shipment after the buyer's final sea-trial. And presented 'As Is'. With no warranty of any kind expressed nor implied. As is common with equipment of this type.

All shipbuilding companies are trying to improve hydrofoil boats. But drastic improvement of specifications of hydrofoil boats will not to be. Because companies use screw or water-jet propulsors. These propulsors create thrust on the base classic stationary hydro dynamic (gradient of movement amount, jet theory).
