Who doesnt love a great set of fins??? And this little lady has them. Up for sale is a rare vintage 1959 runabout made by Plastyle from Niles,MI. First and foremost let me state this boat and it's matching trailer both have CLEAN INDIANA TITLES!! I have taken care of the worst part of owning a vintage boat. Fresh titles with NO leg work. This little baby was hidden away in a barn for 40+ years till I bought it and revitalized it. I tried to leave as much original as I could. That being said here is a partial list of new things on her. Lower Hull paint and epoxy primer, new light wiring, new foam and vinyl on seat backs, new floors 5/8 marine plywood with marine carpet, new stainless hardware on most everything, new steering cables, gas lines, ignition switch, and new rub rail. The Motor has been completely run through and runs beautifully. The motor is a 1961 Mercury "White Cloud" or Merc 500, 50 hp. It has new plugs, magneto, points, condenser, plug wires, fuel pump, carbs were rebuilt, starter was rebuilt, new water impeller, and new rectifier. Compression is 115 + or- 2psi across all 4 cylinders. The top cap was wet sanded and buffed rather than a complete repaint or gel coat. This is because the finish is original and in pretty good condition. I wanted to showcase the fact that this is an almost 60 year old vessel and looks beautiful. This also gives the new owner the option to either go for the original look or a fully restored or run her as is. The trailer is original to the boat. It is a tilting trailer which was big at the time of this boats manufacture. It was completely blown apart and painted. New tires, rims, wheel bearings, tail lights, side marker lights, wiring, bunk wood, bunk carpeting, rollers, winch line, 2" hitch coupler, safety chains, and ALL new hardware all the way around. This is a complete turn key boat. The registration tags are good till April of 2018, which means you can drop her in the water as soon as you buy her. This has been a fun project but its time to find her a permanent home. She is perfect for someone looking to get into boating or the lake home owner that wants to bring back the golden age of stately boating. Or if you have a hotrod truck this would be a perfect addition to showcase at a cruise in. Again this boat has been revitalized not restored. I left the top cap with the imperfections and some wear showing. The motor was mechanicaly restored but I left the original finish on it also. This girl runs great. Fun little boat and a great way to get into boating if your new. Dont let this one slip by!!! Thanks for looking. Local pick-up only or I can deliver or meet someone in about a 100 mile radius for a cost of $1 a mile. I also have many pics of the resto and original documents from the boat that go with her.On Jul-10-17 at 20:22:50 PDT, seller added the following information:
After communicating with a bidder, I feel I should explain that I will work with the winning bidder on shipping. But the entire responsibility of making arrangements and cost will be on the winning bidder. I will gladly deliver it to a LOCAL shipping company for a fee.
Questions
I was hoping to buy this boat when located in Pittsburgh and advertised on Craigslist for $1500. We had actually planned to travel from Winchester, VA to see the boat last weekend. But we received no replies regarding our visit and then it disappeared from Craigslist after 2-3 days. I can only assume you expect a wider spectrum of more specific buyers. Makes sense. I would have most likely paid $1500 for the refurbished Plastyle. But at $3000 and much further away. A beautiful boat she is! Thanks for the peek.
