All original 40 U.S. Navy Admirals launch boat. It was stationed on the USS Ronald Reagan a Nimitz class nuclear powered aircraft carrier. The Ronald Reagan is the command carrier for the U.S. Pacific 7th fleet currently operating in the south China sea. The naval markings on the back of this 40 launch boat are COMCARSTRKGRU7 which stands for Command Carrier Strike Group 7th fleet. This launch boat was designed and built to NAVSEA specification by Modutech in Tacoma Washington. Naval Surface Warfare hull number 40PE8517. Designed to withstand the impact of a 60 drop into the water from the carrier in an emergency scenario. Try doing that with any other 40 cruiser without causing serious damage.Exclusively used by the 7th fleet admiral on the USS Ronald Reagan. Engine hours are 214 & 197 on each Detroit Diesel 671n engine. Over 15 knots cruising speed with a 4 draft makes this an ideal cruiser. Very stable with smooth handling characteristics due to its hydrodynamic hull chine design, and cuts thru 3 waves like butter. Fairly easy to remove from the water with its naval hoisting cable that's included, no specialty equipment required. GRP hull with hydraulic steering. Still in its original complete configuration. Comes with its original navy boat cradle. The hull has a very substantial steel h-beam built into the hull that the hoisting cable attaches to 2 points. The h-beam give the hull ultra strength to withstand any rough seas or sudden impacts. Weight on crane scale during removal is at 20,000 Lbs. with empty fuel tanks. This launch boat is a valuable piece of U.S. Naval history.
