U.S. Made 24 FOOTCustom Pocket Trawler. This boat was designed by Atkin & Co., Darien Connecticut - we have framed the blue prints and on them it says "Deadrise Power Boat 1958". She was built in 1990 in Edgewater, MD by Mast and Mallet. They hand-build every boat. Look them up. We have talked to both the builder and the diesel specialist who installed the engine. We bought the boat in 2008 we are the 3rd owners. Did have her pulled and surveyed then.
On 6/2 I added 3 new pictures- 1 of the prop and 2 of the engine. Prop is a Michigan 18x11 w/1-1/4" bore. We believe the prop is bronze.
Perfect boat for a cruising couple. 24HP 2-cylinder BUKH diesel motor uses 1 liter per hour of fuel cruising at 7 knots. She has a 40 gallon gas tank. This is the original lifeboat diesel engine the hours meter says 540. She has been lift kept for the past 8 years. Soda blast and hull and bottom paint were done in the last 2 years. Cuddy has A/C, double bed, private head, the galley area has sink w/running water and fridge, natural bentwood interior. Also included: Lowrance, battery charger, VHF radio, spotlight, and lots and lots emergency replacement parts, etc. Hull construction is fiberglass over Western Cedar. 30 gallon water tankunder the bed provides water to the sink and the head.
Please note She needs some work but ALL repairs that are needed are cosmetic. Mostly painting but also some woodwork and word stain. Not trying to fool anyone here. But she is completely seaworthy and sound. She weighs around 4500 lbs. This is a heavy, smooth traveling lady. She is a one-of-a-kind wooden boat - not a lot of brightwork, but she does need carpentry work to repair some issues with leaking portlights on the starboard side. Wereplaced the wood on the port side of the cabin in 2012 due to the same leaking window issue. Not a problem for a carpenter-type person and we have the marine ply and plexiglass needed. The repair material comes with the boat. I have included repair pictures before and after replacing the wood and windows on the port side. Starboard may not need as much repair work but it does need to be done at some point nothing to keep you out of the water. It would be a labor of love for the right new owner.
Also have bimini for stern area and custom made wheelhouse weather enclosure. Health issues force sale. . . sad. Do not have a trailer but we have access to a boat ramp and we are on open water to the Potomac River near Colonial Beach, VA.
Questions
Came across this boat on the internet. My question is do you still have this boat for sale? I have a Smith Island Skiff built by Mask and Mallet. They built five of these skiff boats and mine has the same type of BUHK engine.
Greetings, Are you snowed in? I am a lifetime sailor with several wooden boat experiences. Considering power and as simple a boat as possible with some accommodations. Noise is a factor. Is the engine quiet, in an insulated or could be insulated engine box? Is she stored indoors? On jack stands? Winterized engine and water and fuel tanks of course? I fly free so I could visit after Thanksgiving. Love the low fuel consumption. Saw your interesting boat on Off Center Harbor. Looking forward to your information.
Just checking in again.
Rob
