Vagabond, a 1928 Lake Union Dreamboat currently moored in the Seattle area, is the epitome of elegant, comfortable, safe cruising. Unfortunately, she must be sold due to the age and health of her Captain.
To really grasp what she is and what cruising in a classic yacht is like, you must see her on the water and tour her inside and out; pictures just don't do her justice!
Please visit her facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/VagabondDreamboat/ or search for "Vagabond-Gorgeous Lake Union Dreamboat" on Facebook. Be sure to look through all her photos!
Briefly, she was built in Seattle in 1929 by the Lake Union Dry Dock and Machinery Company (still in business).
Designed by Ottis Cutting, her hull is Port Orford cedar and the cabin is solid teak.
Powered by a single Detroit 4-53 diesel, she cruises at 9 knots burning 3.5 gallons per hour.
She holds 200 gallons of fuel and 200 gallons of fresh water.
Fully equipped with bow thruster, GPS Chart Plotter, and radar, Vagabond is waiting anxiously to take you cruising in the splendor, gracious style of an earlier times. Having had only four owners, she has had a very stable life, been professionally maintained, and operated with respect.
As you can discover on a tour or in pictures, the cabin has been modernized for comfort and enjoyment of cruising with all the features of a modern kitchen and beautiful brass fittings. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need for cruising. The large refrigerator/freezer holds all you'll want to feed crew and guests. There is an additional cooler on board.
The head has gorgeous brass fittings, porthole, and a shower. Her 6-foot captain is absolutely comfortable in the shower.
The diesel furnace provides heat throughout the cabin, curtains close for privacy. Windows all around for gorgeous views. flybridge is a great place to sun (and drive). Skylights and portholes let in great light below deck.
This boat easily sleeps 5-6 and was superbly comfortable on a recent cruise to Canada. Tons of storage below deck.
Vagabond will be on display and available for tours at the 42nd Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival at the Center for Wooden Boats in South Lake Union on September 29 and 30. Welcome aboard!
Additional history, pictures, and specifications are available on request. Tours or at-sea trials can be arranged for serious buyers.
