Original owner's son recalls the boat was sold as "used" because it was a holdover. The boat was sold as a 1962 but I think it is older. The Evinrude appears to be the only motor ever put on the boat. I have the original Bills of Sale for both as well as the original Evinrude owner's manual and the first and many other subsequent registrations.
This Lake N Sea is hightly original and in very good condition. The Pink(!) and white two tone gelcoat is in good shape. There is very little crazing. I polished two test areas and got a nice shine. Often, actually too often, these boats are restored by painting over the gelcoat which is too far gone. This boat will shine up well. There are areas from chafing and such and are shown in the photos. They can be touched up with matched gelcoat. These boats were painted on the inside and there is newer paint there. I don't see any repairs and the floor is solid. The transom is solid and original; very important!
The 1963 Evinrude Lark was a deluxe variant of the 40 horsepower standard. The wiring is very simple and completely unmolested and original. The key switch, solenoidor similar is not functioning and nothing happens when the key is turned.Since the last listing, I put 12 volts to the solenoid and the motor fired right up. The gas was very old andthe carbs need a complete cleaning. Please study the engine pictures...!
The trailer is a 1962 MasterCraft and it is solid. I towed it 200 miles from the Adirondacks to Connecticut at 70 MPH.
"It will buff out". We have all heard that before. This is different because it will. Preservation and originally are where it's at these days with this stuff. This boat will present well everywhere and there is no need to waste time and money destroying what this boat has and has become so rare these days due to well intentioned "restorations". Please call me at phone for more info. Thanks!
Questions
The hull number for this Biscayne model is located on the aluminum transom protector or inside the transom on a small metal tag. Email me that number and I can tell what year the boat was made, etc.
