You are (hopefully) bidding on a 47' trawler built in 1969 by Kenny Hill Boats in Seal Beach California. It is a single screw wood trawler powered by a 671 Detroit Diesel engine. The main operation area is in the pilothouse, with adequate navigational aids and instrumentation for monitoring the engine. There is a helm seat as well as an L-shaped seating area with a small table. Aft of this is a marine head. There are 2 companion ways leading from the pilot house; one goes forward to a V-berth with two bunks, the other goes aft to the galley and salon. The galley is U-shaped--the aft section is low cabinetry while the forward section has both high and low cabinetry, a refrigerator, microwave, and stove. The salon is roomy with seating on both port and starboard sides. Aft of the salon is a small enclosed deck space. Forward of the salon a companionway leads to the owner's stateroom, with one large queen-sized bed and many cabinets. Forward of the owner's stateroom is a head and access to the V-berth. The roof of the salon is accessible by ladder on the port side; there are railings around the roof to provide for a seating area. The inflatable is stored on this roof as well. The bow is accessible forward of the pilothouse, and features a stainless steel pulpit, anchor windlass, anchor roller, and teak bow plank. There is a teak swim step across the transom. There is an 8 kilowatt Onan generator that runs. The boat has 110, 24, and 12 volt electrical systems. The running gear consists of a 2" stainless steel shaft, 30 x 20 bronze propeller, and stainless steel rudder. The main engine is a 240 hp Detroit Diesel, which runs. The stern thruster is powered by 24 volts DC. Fuel capacity is 1600 gallons, fresh water capacity is 150 gallons, black water tank is 35 gallons, and there is a 10 gallon hot water heater.WHAT IT NEEDS: This boat requires some amount of work: 1) the Sea Scout group that operated the boat removed a VERY heavy freezer unit from the starboard side, and rearranged the heavy batteries for the starting and stern thruster unit. This resulted in a list to port. We have corrected the list with sandbags placed on the starboard side (see picture). 2) there is a slow leak somewhere near the transom. The cause is unknown. a 110 volt bilge pump cycles for about a minute at approximately 20 minute intervals to expel accumulated water. 3) some work was started on a portion of the deck aft of the pilothouse on the starboard side; this needs to be finished. 4) overall deep cleaning, some painting and maintenance needs to be performed. 5) some of the plexiglass surrounding the small aft deck is broken and needs to be replaced.OVERALL: The Tsunami has excellent potential for being a very economical cruising boat. It is heavily constructed, and while cruising at 8 or 9 knots burns very little fuel. It is spacious and would make a great live-aboard.This boat is being sold by Ship 87 Incorporated, dba Islander Sea Scout Foundation. All proceeds from the sale of the Tsunami will be used for Sea Scout Ship 16's program. This boat is being sold as it, where is with no warranty expressed or implied. A copy of a 2011 survey is available on request. It (the boat, not the survey) must be removed from its present location (Sea Scout docks in Marina del Rey) within one week of the end of the auction. Be prepared to have the boat hauled and surveyed; no work can be done on the boat at the Sea Scout docks. The boat will also be listed for sale locally. This is a documented vessel.
