This FULLY RESTORED 1960 Glasspar Seafair Phaeton is a special Classic Boat. With a serial number of 0001 it might be the very first Phaeton that Glasspar made! Add it's 1965 Mercury 1000 100hp Outboard and original Sterling Admiral Trailer and you have a special classic boat, motor and trailer.
Glasspar's Seafair Phaeton is perhaps, the rarest of their line and was manufactured from 1960 thru 1962. It features a dashing new hardtop with a roll back convertible canvas, a hull designed for speed and performance, front deck hatch, double bottoms and glass front and side sliding windshields. The hard convertible top provides closed comfort on bright sunny days. Open the canvas section and enjoy the open feel, air flow and stand-up steering.
The restoration of this classic took nearly 24 months to complete. It went ALL the way down to the depths of the hull. It has new stringers/grid, main keel structure, flooring and new enhanced 22 high transom. The restoration was then finished out with high quality fiberglass products, bottom and top-side paint, new glass windshields, new side sliding glass, all new gaskets, and new rub rail insert. The boat was re-wired with every component fused for enhanced safety. Electric functions are powered by a new Deep Cycle Marine Battery. A Seastar Solutions NFB 4.2 Steering System with Mercury steering attachment kit was installed for safe smooth steering. The 6 seats were re-upholstered with high quality marine grade vinyl. Nice finishing touches include new old stock vintage Airguide Speedometer, new old stock vintage bow light, new Mid Century Marine Stern Light, an original Glasspar Steering wheel, and new mahogany wood. The folding Convertibleremovable top section was made of Sunbrella Marine Grade Canvas that easily snaps in/out.
The 1965 Mercury Outboard 1000 100hp motor was purchased from a family here in Minnesota that is well known in the classic boat world and was well taken care of for many years prior to our purchase. This Classic Mercury was professionally restored and has solid power head internals, new fuel pumps, properly restored carbs, new ignition system (points, condensers, rectifier, distributor cap and rebuilt harnesses) and more. All new seals and new bearings as required. The Lower Unit was also restored with new water pump, new seals and gears and clutch system were replaced. The motor has a new aluminum propeller. The motor has approximately 10 hours since restoration. The motor also has a newer style rebuilt control box that provides enhanced safety features from the original and has new control cables. This motor runs extremely well. It consistently starts very easy and is FAST with an impressive take offto plane.
As for the Sterling Admiral Boat Trailer it was also fully restored. The trailer restoration includes new paint, new hubs, coupler, wiring, lights, safety chains, bearings, seals, wheels, tires (spare included), new rollers, bunks, and winch with new strap. The axle was professionally serviced to provide many more years of service (if properly maintained).
With the full restoration boat, motor and trailer the new owner should have many years of enjoyment as long as it it maintained! Two fuel tanks are included. A restored 6 gallon vintage Mercury tank and a newer 3 gallon Mercury fuel tank with new quick connect bulb/fuel line for the 6 gallon tank. The smaller tank has a dedicated line attached as this should mainly be used as a back-upemergency tank.
When considering the purchase of a classic boat, with full restoration to the boat, motor and trailer, take into account what the cost of a new boat or used boat in this condition would be. In most cases, the value to price of a fully restored classic far exceeds what one would pay for a used boat in the same price range, with little to no depreciation.
