Questions
Hi, saw your ad for your Fleetwood. My Dad has a 1956 Fleetwood 14' plywood w/ a 1959 Merc outboard. I'm interested in gathering information about Fleetwood boats built by Fred Garrison in Princes Bay. I'd like to write an article for the vintage boating magazines. Any material you can give me would be a great help.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
Eric Tolnes, Staten Island, NY
My dad and I had a new 18' Fleetwood skiff built by Fred Garrison in Princes Bay about 1957. Paid $900.00 then and painted (finished) it ourselves. Put in all hardware and used long shaft 30 HP Evinrude bought new year end. That's how I know when Fred built boat '56 was only year for 30 HP Evinrude.
Please correspond. I can probably offer more for your data collection.
Hi Eric
Did you ever research the Fred Garrison made boats out of Staten Island, Fleetwood custom boats?
I have a beauty I’d like to learn more about !
Please let me know

I also HAD that same vintage Fleetwood w/ a 40 HP Merc from about 1959 to 1968 while growing up around Lemon Creek and skiing and exploring the Raritan bay. My father gave it away when I went off to college, and I am looking for pictures in order to replicate that boat for my grandchildren. I have a lot of fond memories of on that boat in
I would appreciate any info you have. Thanks.
(Is your father interested in selling?)
Wow. I had forgotten I had posted my query on this site. Would love to talk to anyone with knowledge of Fred Garrison and Fleetwood Custom Boats. I remember there being a Fleetwood Custom Boats decal on the rear dash of Dad's boat. Unfortunately it was sanded off when the boat was revarnished. Call or text me at *** or email me at ***
I've been thinking about this a bit more lately as I've moved off Staten Island, but still work there and my new commute brings me past Lemon Creek every workday.
Beautiful! I had two Fleetwoods. First was 18' with forward deck with wooden windshield. Second was a 19' "center console" (with a lower cast forward deck) which
I purchased from the estate of Gwyn Polivoy on Staten Island. I remember watching Fred Garrison building them at his workshop at Lemon Creek in the 1950's. I remember Fred said the 19 footer was designed for a 40 HP engine. Love yours and is she still for sale? Best, Brian
Hello, I don't know how old this thread is but I came across it because I have a 1958 18' Fleetwood Custom Boat in my garage that I may be interested in selling. Thank you.
Are you thinking of selling? I had two Fleetwoods years ago.I have 4 grandsons now and am looking for a boat to take them fishing. Best wishes, brian
