Mercruiser mechanic replaced the starboard engine last year, Leyland Marine in
Santa Clara. I had him replace the
engine (still under warranty), exhaust manifolds and risers on the port engine ($10k).
Two months later I had him replace the
exhaust manifolds, risers and carb on the port engine ($2k). I had already replaced the starters, coils,
heat exchangers. Other work includes
replacing the stainless steel trim tabs & pumps, replaced one new outdrive and the other rebuilt at
Moore and Sons the Mercruiser dealer ($5k) in Santa Cruz, sorted out the prop
size to get the correct WOT rpm range. Other
items: Electronics from Terry at Maritime
Electronics in Santa Cruz $13k, Carpet, Corian counters $1300, cushions and
canvas from Bobs Canvas in Santa Cruz $2200, replaced the electric water
heater, and then theres all the fishing gear.
And thousands in miscellaneous items.
These were the expenses after buying the boat, to make it safe and
comfortable for friends and family.
