We enjoyed using our used pontoon boat as a floating dock and swim platform, after the outboard had problems. I only started to strip off the seats and sides to get down to just a platform, as I was unsure what its next purpose would be. No trouble staying above water, there is one small spot in the front where the floor is a little soft. Has been winterized and covered in waterproof tarp every year in yard.The 40hp Johnson Outboard had a problem going into reverse. I lowered the lower end and took it to my trusted mechanic, who confirmed that the reverse gear needed to be replaced, but looked fine other than that. I got busy with another boat and never finished making the repair, however, I have stored the engine and all parts carefully. The boat ran fine - even took my 2 kids tubing - previously, so if you're handy and want to fix it, or maybe just want to put a used lower end on this boat, then your floating dock and swim platform would become much more.I do not have a trailer for this pontoon boat. The pontoon is currently in the water on the Huron River, upriver from Strawberry Lake and entire Portage Chain of lakes. If you live on a connected body of water, I could help tow it with my other boat. If you have a trailer, or rent one ($40 for the day the last time I need one), there is a private subdivision boat launch on my street where we can take the pontoon boat out of the water at no cost to you.
