Full size residential refrigerator. Has a diesel transfer pump in case you need to supply others with your fuel. Gasoline tank in the aft deck for dingy (no dingy comes with the boat) Built by the Western Boatbuilders in Takoma Washington to Forest Service specifications. It is a commercially built vessel. it was designed to carry USFS Rangers throughout the thousands of islands of SouthEast Alaska. It participated in the clean up of the Exxon Valdez. Has been based in Ketchikan, AK since new. Sold by USFS at surplus auction 3 years ago, I have used it as a vacation cottage as well as work project since I purchased it. A divorce is bringing in back to the market. I hate to sell, but time and money are less available now. Last hauled, bottom painted, and double zinced 2 years ago. I have had her underway a number of times over the past 3 years and she is wonderful. The engine starts without hesitation. Huge rudder that is very responsive. With the right touch, she can turn 360 degrees in about a length and a half. I have had her through multiple narrows with swift currents and she tracks and handles without a problem. The Forrest Service was considering The Tongass Ranger for National Historic Site consideration and a lengthy history of the Ranger Boats including the Tongass Ranger and her sister ship the Sitka Ranger is available online.Speed is 9 knots at 1500 rpm. Max by the specs is 12.5 knots at 1650 rpm. 4 forward bunks in the v-berth. 1 bunk above the chart drawers in the wheelhouse. (Great nap site after getting underway at daybreak, stowing the lines, coffee, breakfast, setting rotations, then a great nap!) 3 bunks in the aft Ranger cabin. Originally was 1, however the Forrest service removed the desk and installed additional bunks. Original Gun cabinet and hanging lockers intact. Forward Head in the V. New Raritan Crown Head. New Raritan Hold and Treat in the aft paint locker. Aft head disassembled in order to rebuild. New Raritan Crown Head to install. Original basin retained. Single, huge (for a boat) shower in aft head. She is seaworthy, but remember, she is over 55 years old and needs the maintenance and attention any older vessel requires. This is a large purchase to do sight unseen. However, I will be in Ketchikan for the last few days of the sale. Anyone who wants to inspect the boat and crawl around her bilges is welcome. I will he happy to show to any interested party during the last days of the sale. I will be in Ketchikan June 20-23. Just let me know if you are interested in seeing her and we can make arrangements.
