Cheoy Lee

I am selling a 1975 Cheoy Lee 346 trawler 36 in overall length if you count the teak swim platform. I purchased this boat last November as a project boat with the intent of doing a complete restoration and turning the trawler into a little yacht. Unfortunately, the previous owner had purchased this boat through an estate sale and did not know anything about the boat therefore, could not educate me on anything. I bought it as is where is That said, it has all the character and equipment to be a great boat when done. The boat was winterized professionally in November and re-commissioned this spring.

I had posted this boat on classifieds board once before, due to my hectic travel schedule, and although I had a buyer, the buyer did not pay. Please only bid if you are ready to take on a project. I am posting it again as I simply dont have the time to work on it.

This trawler was built by one of the leading yacht builders in the world today. Cheoy Lee builds high end multi-million dollar custom yachts so is worthy of restoration. It has a fiberglass hull which with some cleaning and buffing, would come back. That said, I was planning to spray it a nautical blue. It has twin Lehman diesel 120HP engines, Northern Lights generator, Cruisair air conditioning, Lewmar windlass, GPS, JRC Radar, etc. There are $100s, if not more, worth in spare parts on the boat along with some tools.

Before I bought the boat, I started both engines which started up right away and ran. The boat has velvet drive transmissions, however, the starboard transmissionwould notengage in reverse but does in forward. The port transmission works. I had a mechanic go through the boat to determine some of the issues (at a cost of $700) and learned that the port engine had an overheating issue. I just spent $2,100 in April and believe the issue has been resolved. We have run the engines at high RPM (at the dock) for 45 minutes and they both stayed at appropriate temperatures. The mechanic checked the wiring and all seemed good, however, had to replace the starboard engine starter wires. The panel, while original, seems to be in good working order.

The transmission can be fixed at the yard where the boat currently sits.

Accommodations

V-birth forward with head / shower and vanity.. lots of draw space for storage. Teak and holly floor that will need sanding but could come back. It was covered with carpet.

Bridge two pilot births - I believe the flooring can be sanded and brought back.. currently covered by carpet.

Galley two burner electric stove not tested. Two fridges not tested twin stainless sinks Head / shower

Salon pullout love seat and foldout double bed.

Transmission will need attention

Decks will need attention

Boat deck does not appear to be leaking but flexes under foot.

Boat deck hoist / crane will need some attention. The boom is soft but can be replaced easily.

Flybridge will need attention under the captains chair - new plywood and fiberglass.. Not a large job for handy man. Headliner below shows some staining from leaks.

Forward deck shows possible signs of leaking and is soft under foot.

The side decks feel solid but will need attention.

Hydraulic steering on the flybridge is leaking.. If filled the steering does work.. Need to identify the leak.. simple fix.

Due to deck leaks there are some soft areas in the teak bulk heads where the flybridge meets the salon and in the pilot house. I do believe this can be salvaged without replacement.

Theprevious owner painted over much of the exterior teak which could be brought back or sanded and repainted.

My work schedule has kept me from really starting the project. Therefore,I am reluctantly putting this boat up for sale due to my lack of time. This boat is being sold as is where is The fuel tanks are full of diesel.
