Cape Dory CDT 24 Trawler

The Cape Dory Trawler 24 is a sought after pocket cruiser that is a classic, efficient and seaworthy craft. There are only 14 CDT 24 boats in existence. Elspeth (hull number 008) is being offered by her second owner, having spent her first 20+ years on a fresh water lake in Vermont, and since then in Annapolis, Maryland. She has her original Westerbeke 27 diesel with approximately 950 hours. This 30 HP engine is fresh water cooled via a raw water heat exchanger. She has all original teak and fittings. The pilothouse chairs and below decks cushions have been reupholstered in white vinyl and the front deck hatch was replaced in 2013. She has the original alcohol stove, ice box, sink and compass. She was ordered from the factory without a head or sailing mast, and has not been modified. She has her original 30 gallon fuel and fresh water tanks, decals and lights. She comes with Garmin depth sounder and fish finder and marine radio, which were added around 2007. A battery charging system was added in 2011. With an exceptional full displacement hull, the CDT24 handles beautifully and is extremely efficient, using about half a gallon per hour at 6 knots. Elspeth is a beautiful, solid example in well cared for original condition, and ready for cruising. She comes with all her original literature, invoices and manuals. She comes with a Load Rite tandem axel trailer (2 of 4 wheels frozen), as well as large Danforth anchor, Garmin depth sounder/fish finder, marine radio, battery charging system, wood and canvas companionway covers, window screens, life preservers, emergency tiller, original teak flag pole and flag, and spare parts and miscellaneous items. Elspeth draws many comments from both power and sail boaters who remark about her classic design, study construction and well-engineered systems.

She is currently in Annapolis Maryland, and receiving routine maintenance items including fresh antifouling bottom paint, impeller and zinks. She has no significant issues, but could use attention to the following:

-Some crazing on the front deck, but not too bad.

-She takes on a small amount of water in the bilge after a big rain, and could use some caulking around the teak gunwales amidships.

-A small section of teak inside the cabin above the sink has rotted (approximately 10 X 2), caused from moisture from the side gunwales when not caulked.

-She needs a new windshield wiper blade.

-She needs a new anchor light.

-Original pump style faucet was not functioning and removed. There is a new faucet and whale foot-pump, but not yet installed, to allow the new owner to place as desired.

Over $3000 in repairs from Annapolis City boat yard including fresh anti-fouling bottom paint, new impeller, compounded and waxed, etc.
