Beautiful 1982 Olson 30

For the past five years we have used this beautiful boat to tour the sound. Admittedly it is a bit like camping but it has been the perfect vessel for exploring with my son.For those not familiar, the Olson is a meticulously crafted Ultra Light Displacement Boat (ULDB) designed to win races. It is perfect for sailing in the light winds we tend to have in the sound as she is super efficient with a lot of sail for her size.There are no amenities inside other than basic storage and a couple cots. The result is spartan but the maintenance costs have been zero except for cleaning supplies and a little interior paint.We are not racers so we installed a new Harken roller furler on the headsail. We do have the original stay for those that want to convert her back to a race machine.She has a number of sails that are perfectly fine for casual sailing but they may be a bit tired for serious racers.The trusty Mercury outboard has never let us down but was a bit finicky so we installed a new carb last year.She comes with the outboard in the picture, a red Achilles inflatable (older but serviceable) and vintage Evinrude outboard.
