This 26-Foot Gentleman's Race Boat, professionally built in 2014 by Bay Machine Company, won Best Contemporary at the 2015 Chesapeake Bay Antique and Classic Boat Festival. It follows the John Hacker "Miss APBA" design of the late 1920s. Construction is of the finest materials and to the highest standards: Scantlings are3/4" ring frames in marine fir plywood, intermediate frames in 1 and 1-1/4" Honduras Mahogany, with full length aero-spruce engine stringers, white oak keel, plank battens, and chines. Bottom is 1/4" 1088 Okoume ply with 3/8 Phillipine mahogany plank overlay. Topsides and deck are 1/8" 1088 Okoume with 3/8" Phillipine mahogany plank overlay. Overlays and underlayments were joined with full-face 3M-5200 adhesive. All joints were treated with Smith's penetrating epoxy sealant. All silicon-bronze fasteners in bottom and topsides planking. Bottom has undercoated with four E 2500 Interprotect Barrier Coats. The result is a dry, strong, fast craft that presents an outstanding appearance in a tasteful red and white finish with period-correct deck hardware and interior appointments. Upholstery is in red marine grade Naugahide with two bucket seats fore and a bench seat immediately aft. Flooring is red jute-backed linoleum with the dashboard and cockpit lattice in varnished mahogany. The boat is powered by a Chrysler 426D Golden Lion Marine Engine SAE rated 325hp@3200RPM/450 lb-ft torque @ 4400RPM through a Borg-Warner 1.5:1 transmission. A new 1-1/4 A-22 Aquamet alloy shaft uses a Federal damper coupling and runs through intermediate bearing and custom-cast main strut as it turns a ACME 14x22 four blade nibral propeller. Steering is by way of a 1936 Packard banjo style wheel and non-feedback Teleflex helm that operates a 1-1/4 shafted high-speed rudder. Mechanical parameters are monitored at the dash by way of a tachometer, engine oil pressure, manifold vacuum, engine temperature, drive pressure gauges, and a volt-meter. A Hobbs meter mounted to the left of the wheel records engine hours (approximately 8 hours as of 05-2019) and a fuel gauge and drive temperature gauge are mounted in the lattice just fore of the starboard bucket seat. Other equipment includes a powerful bilge blower for the engine compartment, and one also in the fuel tank compartment, individually controlled at the dash, an automatic bilge pump with a manual override, and a Lewmar bow thruster for docking control (shown in the interior photo of the forward compartment and in last photo of boat underway). A flushing system is incorporated into the water pickup circuit. The engine is once through raw-water cooled, with a drive cooler and engine oil cooler placed upstream of the engine cooling circuit. The boat sits on a custom-designed dual axle float-off trailer with new wheels, tires, wiring and brakes. A fitted tonneau covers the cockpit during storage. Included are fenders, PFDs, docking lines, fire extinguishers. Boat is USCG compliant. Both boat and trailer have clear Maryland titles. Boat is stored in St. Leonard, MD and can be seen by appointment. Terms: Boat sells as-is, where-is.
