2014 AVALON & TAHOE GRAND ISLAND SPORT 16' PONTOON BOAT W/30HP TOHATSU 4-STROKE!
Up for sale is my Grand Island Sport pontoon boat that I purchased new in 2014 from T&M Marine in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. T&M customizes their boats from Avalon & Tahoe manufacturing and gives them the brand name Grand Island. The Sport model is a cruise configuration featuring a full bench seat in the back that is the captains chair too. Frankly, I like the separate Captain's chair better, but my wife likes the bench because she can sit next to me on a cruise and it does make it easy to munch on snacks on the table.
She is in very good shape for her years and I have treated her well! There are no tears on the furniture and the carpet is in very good shape. I had to replace the front carpet because it remains exposed to the sun when it is covered and UV had caused quite a bit of deterioration. The tops of the furniture have some marking from mold but I managed to clean them as best I can and removed all the mold. Please look at a close up picture to see what I am talking about.
The pontoons are dirty from being in the water but there are no dings or dents on the tubes. You can have a cleaning party with friends to clean themyou supply the beer, beach the boat and then give everybody a brush! That will save you $200 of acid washing the pontoons! The sidewalls and rails are all in VGCthe decal on the left (port) forward side had so much chipping I removed it. It doesn't affect anything except aesthetics and that hardly at all. The cover was replaced a few years back and is in good condition. Ditto the bimini top.
I installed a USB charging port for my iPhone and it sports an LED voltmeter also. There is no stereo but I include a waterproof Bluetooth speaker and I have an uninstalled marine stereo from my sailboat that I will throw in. There is a depth finder installed on the helm. Also installed some underwater (under deck) mood lighting via blue LEDs. Also installed magnesium (fresh water) sacrificial zincs although that was probably overkill.
The motor is a Tohatsu 30HP, 4-stroke, fuel injected and it is in perfect condition! It has electric start and power tilt (the pull starter you see on top of the engine is a manual starter in case the battery is dead). I love this motor and it is super clean as I have maintained it very well and NEVER used any fuel with ethanol. My mechanic recently replaced all the filters and oil including the lower unit oil, impeller, new plugs and new battery cables. There were signs of some muskrat chewing on the old battery cables so I replaced them and wrapped ALL the new cables with plastic guard. This motor has separate oil reservoir so you dont need to mix oil with your fuel (5 gallons max). It starts up all the time, is very quiet and sips fuel and is certified low emission. It will give you many years of cruising! The battery is a few years old and I have a solar charger hooked to it to trickle charge it.
This is a perfect boat for a couple or a family with a couple of kids to get out on the lake and enjoy the water. If you are looking for speed, look elsewhere! At most you will get 13 MPH out of it and with the maximum of 6 people (or 950lbs), I suspect you will barely get 7 MPH (Ive never measured). It has a beam of 7 and although some people say the shorter pontoon boats are less stable, I have never had any submarining. To be sure, if the lake is wavy or you are in the wake of big boats, you will rock some with only a 7 beam. Not a big deal just dont spill your drink!
There is NO TRAILER so dont even ask! I will deliver for free via the water anywhere on Lake Norman or to one of the public landings. A new single axle trailer will cost you around $1,700 and obviously a used one for less. There are plenty of marinas on the lake to check for used trailers and here are a few:

The Boat Rack: phone

If you are out of state or away from the lake, see if a local dealer will let you rent one to come pick it up. If you are the winner and come see and test drive the boat and it is not as described and you decide you dont want it, I will refund your $500 deposit. I know that will not happen though! Comes with 4 life jackets, 2 fenders, two dock lines, a cushion for the bench seat, table, Bluetooth speaker and of course all the covers. At transfer I will provide clean, notarized Title and bill of sale. Cash or certified check only! All in all, this is a very economical way to get on the water and have some fun with the family and the kids. Please, serious bidders onlycheck my rating and feel free to ask any questions (except about trailers!).
