98ft LOA. 1944 US Army Tugboat M/V Adak built by Clyde Wood - Located in Wrangell, AK; Heritage Harbor.

Make this boat your waterfront cabin in the woods. Wrangell has great hunting and fishing and Alaska Airlines has daily flights to this small island community (pop. 3,000).

The engine runs but needs to be gone through before any passage is considered. The hull is solid below the water line and at midships above the waterline, but the bow will need boards next and the stern after that (again, above the water line).

Slip fees are $641/mo and transferable but would be roughly $500/mo if paid up front annually. We are on the transient dock which is not a liveaboard slip, however all transients, usually pleasure boaters traveling through the SE or waiting to get hauled at the boat yard, all stay on their boats here. The harbormaster has allowed exceptions for us as long as no one stays on the boat for longer than 6 months, thereby making them a resident.

I've owned this WWII Army tugboat for 4 years and my friend Brendan for 8 years before me. After the war, the boat became a commercial tug working in Vancouver, BC. It then spent time in the puget sound and Gig Harbor before heading to SE Alaska. In Sitka, Brendan raised his first daughter on the boat, wrote a novel called the Alaskan Laundry and eventually started renting it out in the summers on Airbnb. Originally built for a crew of 13, now it is divided into 4 berths, two are singles (twin beds), one is a double (full size), and the entire topside of the boat is what we call the captains quarters (queen size bed) which connects to the wheelhouse. A second shower, head, and stove are located on the topside. An electric heat pump is also installed in the captains quarters. The other berths have electric wall heaters and there is a large wood stove in the saloon. Water Heater is a modern at source unit that runs on propane.Recent major upgrades to electrical (new panel, controllers, regulator, and shore power), and installation of type II MSD. We just completed a haul out with new copper bottom paint, zincs, and roughly 600 linear ft of 3 inch thick, 6 inch tall Sapele planks, all above the water line midships (starboard and port).
